I was just looking for a second or third opinion. I'm wanting to finish playing PoP: Sands of Time over Thanksgiving break, but I don't think I can beat the game without a trainer (unlimited health, probably). My antivirus software (AVG) claimed the trainer was a virus; CheatHappens clearly addressed this issue on one of their pages, saying it's a false positive, so I'm assuming I'm in the clear, but before I download and try it again I just want to see what you guys have to say.

Thanks.
I don't know. >.>

I've gotten a few legit trainers from GameCopyWorld though. PP:ST is there if you wanna get one from there.

I've heard false positives for these kind of things are pretty common because of how they work.
The ones created by CH are perfectly fine. Only problem is, they now charge you for most of the newer ones.

As for the third party ones they host, I couldn't vouch for them as a whole, but most will certainly be flagged by antivirus software due to the way they hook into the system in order to obtain key presses during game play -- but they won't actually be malicious.

Basically, if you're worried they're concealing actual viruses, then avoid them and look for one you're comfortable with using.
They are fine as far as I know but I find the whole idea of charging for trainer programs rather distateful.

Yeah, well PoP:SoT had serious control issues the last time I tried playing and ended up losing interest. It's an interesting idea, but the camera completely ruined it for me.

o_O
Trainer = mod. You figure out whether they are legit or not. ;)
Gotta say, I'm impressed that so far, not one post has bitched about how people shouldn't be cheating in games. This same topic on other forums, would long since have deteriorated into a cesspit of whining about how others like to play their games.

i'm surprised too. i will always try my best to beat a game without a trainer, but some games are so poorly designed that you hit a wall and the fustration skyrockets to a point of extreme anger and thats when i use a trainer, to help me finish a game that is no longer fun.

I'm all about fun when it comes to games. Why play a game if it's not fun? So if I find a game to be more fun with built in cheats or trainers, then I use them. I've long since grown tired of endless frustration due to game design, bugs or anything else that forces me to play the same damn section over again and again. Life's too short for that, unless, of course, you find it to be fun.

My personal opinion is if it's a single player game then no one should give a toss if you cheat or not. One of the reasons I loathe achievements is they make companies crack down on single player cheating. Who the fuck cares?

People who use achievements to over compensate for the lack of flesh in a certain area?

This nearly happened lastnight when i was playing Painkiller Battle Out of Hell expansion on the Leningrad level. The very last area, i had to deal with 3 tanks firing rockets shells, 4 seeking sappers and hoards of machine gunning, grenade throwing soldiers. it was intense and i had to keep restarting the level and the load times were long, so on seventh and final attempt before downloading a trainer, i beat the level with only 1 health point remaining. Jesus, that was an insane level, but i'm actually glad i was able to finish it without a trainer, damn.

e-Pnis. :P (Hey, why hasn't science come up with a growth... nevermind.)

Anyways, the trainer I got is working pretty well, although I may try a different one that let's me survive falling from heights (if an option for that is available).

I just want to play through the game over break and be done with it ... something like that. It's somewhat fun, and the "leaping over enemies to stab them in the back" seems innovative, but I'm no Yahtzee; not one of my favorite games of all time. (Right now I'm having to watch a walkthrough because I can't figure out to where I'm supposed to leap. :P)
May I suggest Cheat Engine - http://cheatengine.org

This utility can be used as a trainer for any game and you don't have any worries about viruses and the like...

If the game stores the value you want to change in a stable place (like all games on GOG, most probably), then giving yourself extra health for a particular section, for example, is ridiculously easy.

I don't use any trainers now, just this!
