Given the points on the map, maybe they kinda form a 'G', and maybe SPECTRE is leading to Ghost. Are we looking for the Ghost of Captain Morgan? (or is he looking for US?!?)

X marks the spot but X also = Alcohol (those XXX moonshine jugs)
Spectre aka Spirit, Spirit = Alcohol

Ah so Snoopy was both the letter and the word! It all makes sense now!

But seriously someone will get there eventually. I hope...

It's a shame that the real answer isn't as great as the ones you have all come up with so far.
