Aver: Ryse looks terrible, but a lot of console games showed on E3 look amazing. The Division is the best game showed on E3 for me. So I don't get this whole "PC games are better than console games" - both console and PC games are great and we shouldn't look at them as console or PC games. Games are games and I love all of them - at least the good ones. ;)
Metal Gear Solid 5 is the best imo :)
What is going on in this thread??

Removing gameplay from games... not sure if that's really the kind of "different" peoples were hopping for.

Kojima has lost his mojo, he's like a movie director and when director's "lose it" they rarely ever make anything as good as the stuff they made in their creative prime.

I dunno, perhaps it was the way MGS4 felt "Westernized" (to be fair MGS3 showed signs of that too), maybe it was the overly long cinematics instead of long Codec dialogues like the previous games, but the game was a bomb imho. It lost all the camp and uniquely Japanese flair of the originals, MGS2 had such amazing writing and it was such a deconstruction in it's plot and themes. It was in a Western setting but it was unlike anything before.

Basically the decision of Kojima to give Hayter to boot and use Sutherland as Snake in the new game was the last nail in the coffin for me. The guy has obviously forgotten what made the original games decent, and now fancies himself a big-shot movie director.

I LIKIE WESTERNIZED MOVIE LIKE METAL GEARS!!!!

I am sorry but looking back Metal Gear Solid 2 was the weakest of the series, the acting was bad, its characters wer campy in a bad wa,y, Psycho Mantis, Sniper Wolf, Vulcan Raven are in a way more realistic than Vamp, Fortune, and Fatman :P

Besides I will always love the Big Boss Metal Gears despite some unrealistic things like The Pain who controls Hornets and The Fear who is a weird spiderman and Volgin who controls lightning.

Also Judging from MGS 5's trailer I expect someone like you to like the new gameplay additions they made:

More Stealth
Freedom such as hiding in a moving vehicle and driving a vehicle.
Open World
Better CQC
etc.

This is the opposite of games like Ryse and yet you are still dissipointed :(
During the last 3 years or so, the best videogames I have ever played got released. Modern 'Gaming' is as good as any other kind of gaming. If you don't like it, stop playing videogames, it's as simple as that.

Crosmando: It's hatred because almost everything the industry now throws at us is pure shit. It can't be said any differently. Absolute pure shit. And people who probably were okay with eating shit when the first Xbox came out are now growing up and realizing that these games no longer do it for them as an adult.
Almost everything industry ever, in its entire history, threw at us was pure shit. Take off those rose-tinted glasses

And who are you to tell them it's not?

It's called having an opinion... last time I checked it was still legal in some countries.
This was originally going to be a 360 Kinect game, so in depth gameplay isn't something people should be expecting from an up port from that.

Thank you. I glad I'm not the only one who thinks Metal Gear Solid 2 was a waste of time. I thought some of the gameplay bits were good enough and entertaining, but everything else in the game was just plain painful to sit through.

Thats the only thing I like about MGS2, it was in a way fun, I like playing the stealthy rout in the Tanker and just having fun in the playground that was the Big Shell.
Well that's pretty sad.

We just have to face the fact that games being made for us is a thing of the past. Every media type eventually doesn't make sense to older generations anymore. Think of your grandfather trying to watch Seinfeld, talking about how The Honeymooners is "real TV." Think of me trying to watch Parks and Recreation talking about how Seinfeld was "real TV."

Everyone moves on out of the zeitgeist eventually. Do it with honor!

The awesome thing about video gaming is that while we might not rate for the mainstream anymore we still get catered too by indies and small dev teams through digital distribution. And that's awesome! The 18-25 demographic can keep Ryse, I have Wasteland 2 to play.

Well I am a rarity, I used to love any blockbuster film such as the Star Wars Prequals and to a point I liked them better than the Original Trilogy heck I even used to say that Star Wars is better than Star Trek because Star Trek looked boring.

But since I grew up and with thanks to the Internet, I saw how to appreciate the Original Star Wars Trilogy and Star Trek as a whole before the JJ Abrams film.

I even watched the Godfather and long to watch Apocolypse Now and I would not care for those films if I was younger.

So when I grew up my tastes are more inline with older generations.

Elmofongo: So when I grew up my tastes are more inline with older generations.
It happens, there are always outliers. I was raised by grandparents so I like a lot of old music and movies due to exposure that most people my age do not.

I'm speaking in generalities however.
I'm just watching and waiting for the next big Video Game Crash. Back in the day you were actually playing the game, but today the game is playing you.

I could accept it if that was what people wanted, I wouldn't like it, but who am I to argue with teh market? However, the truth is that this is not what people want. Remember the Wii? there is a gigantic market out there that wants pure games and nothing else. Sure, WiiSports may not be your type of game, but at least it is still a game.

Of course going in that direction is not fun, the developers can't pretend they are movie directors and they can't play around with the shiniest new technology toys. These modern games are just being bought by idiots who fall for marketing telling them how "hardcore" they are for preodering overpriced unfinished PC games on a console to get exclusive cut-out content on theday one.

The industry can't keep raising the cost forever while the economy keeps getting worse. They will either have to change or die. Some people would rather drive gaming into the ground than show some humility.

yes... One game like this... and among all the others...

Screw diversity. Gaming is DOOMED!!! DOOMED I TELL YOU! This is the future!!!11!
