It's hatred because almost everything the industry now throws at us is pure shit. It can't be said any differently. Absolute pure shit. And people who probably were okay with eating shit when the first Xbox came out are now growing up and realizing that these games no longer do it for them as an adult.

And I'm not saying there were any dud games back in the 90's, because there were. But anyone with a brain and some self-awareness that can see that the "mainstream" game industry is rapidly shifting away from it's traditional playerbase into something completely different. Many people who grew up with a different type of game suddenly look at what is new and feel utterly repulsed and alienated. I think it's some kind of merger going on between the "TV audience" and the "console game audience", there's a lot of crossover from these groups, BUT Microsoft in particular is trying to create a new type of video game which functions more like a TV show, and it's pissing off and alienating more traditional console gamers.

Average gamer age here in Australia is 29-30, over half female, and yet the "mainstream" game industry is nothing but neck-stabbing, QTE-pushing, manly bald space marine, hiding behind barrels and popping moles.

I'm not saying the Xbox One will fail, I don't think it will, but I think the customer-based will be cut in two, PS4 for more core gamers, PC for niche gamers, and Xbox for watching TV, movies and "movie games".

Farmville is just pretty images even though from what I seen there appears to be player input.

Do you have to shove the agenda that special effects before CGI was better like Stop-Motion and Make Up is better because of this art from adversity concept?

Do we have to keep talking about Music was better in the 80s 70s 60s because of great rock bands even though there are still making good songs.

And of Course gaming, and you wonder we talk less about classic gaming here in the forums than we do about how shitty gaming is now.

Wow, this topic went to hell fast. So much for thinking that there would be a civil discussion here, guess I was expecting too much. This forum never disappoints me.

Most of the games that are coming to PS4 (Metal Gear Solid 5, Mirror's Edge 2, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, The Evil Within, Watch Dogs, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, The Walking Dead Season Two, etc.) are also going to be released on Xbox One (and some on PC) as well. If you're talking about first party exclusives they're not exactly that much (if any) better than Xbox exclusives.

It happens to most communities when the hobby they are gathered together starts going bad. It's unfortunate, but when mostly everything is bad it brings out the worst in people, which is what has happened mostly to PC gaming. I'm sure if/when more good games start coming out things will improve, hopefully Kickstarter delivers us some unique and fun games.

So is Ultima 4, goodness this game's lack of music and dull 8 bit graphics is unimmersive,you know you are doing something wrong when the NES version of both Ultima's 3 and 4 look better :P

Oh and lets not forget the oh so joyous "depth" of giving a begger 1 gold each to increase my Compassion virtue by typing "Give" "1" and ENTER everytime and to this day no one at least has the desency to post just how many times you have to give 1 gold to this poor basterd :P
