QC: Part of what made it short is this was a Wii U only stream, they're planning a 3DS specific stream later in the week.
Really? I thought they showed enough stuff of that on their Youtube channel! Thanks for the heads up on that one. I looke forward to getting to play the Wii-U demos at a nearby Best Buy as well.

cogadh: How is a discount, any discount, just a "buzzword"? It's a consumer benefit, regardless of the platform that is offering it. Yes, they only do it to get you "into the store", so to speak, but so what? You are still getting a discount. If you don't want to take advantage of that discount, that's your choice, but the fact that you don't want it doesn't make getting something for less than what you would normally pay for it meaningless.

Starmaker: A discount on PS4 vs no discount on PS4 matters. A discount on PS4 vs no discount on Xbone is a meaningless buzzword. Same with other stuff. As of now, Sony, having announced plus bonuses, is committed to providing them. But MS, having announced a smaller list of bonuses, might as well offer free demos and whatnot to everyone.

Yes, if you already have a PS4 and there's a plus offer on the table, signing up may be beneficial. But within a larger field of possibilities, including comparison with Xbone, it's just Tom Sawyer selling fence-painting privileges.
Getting a regular game discount on PS4 versus getting nothing of the kind on Xbone is meaningless? Wow, that is the most ridiculous logic I have ever heard. The fact that the Sony offers a service on its console that guarantees weekly discounts on games (and has for quite a while now, that's not just a newly announced thing) and MS does not is a strong selling point for the PS4 itself. Period. Why in the world would you expect MS to do something that they have given no indication they are interested in doing? Sony says what they are going to do up front and simply does it, while MS just gives us vague teases with "more details to come later" and, so far, those details have been nothing but disappointment. All you can do is speculate that MS might embrace more PS+-like features, though we have no indication that they are even considering that. Quite the opposite, in fact. They have already stated their free game offer is not permanent, at the moment it is only effective through the launch period of the Xbone, but they aren't promising to continue it beyond that at all.

Right. Offering more stuff for less money than your competition is just a trick, it's not a good deal at all. Please. What has MS done to you to make you so blind to a concept as simple as that?

Way to shake it up, Nintendo.
Third-Party Publishers Will Have Final Say On Used Games for PS4

So ... Sony kinda lied?

Seriously, think about what you're talking about. You're saying that SPECIAL DISCOUNTS will now happen on the PS4 because they announced them as a FEATURE in order to lure more people to buy the console.

GOG does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, MS [ALREADY] does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, Steam does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, Battle.net does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, Origin does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, GG does SPECIAL DISCOUNTS, EVERY SINGLE FREAKING PLATFORM OUT THERE DOES SPECIAL DISCOUNTS.

Really now, this is getting beyond the point of being funny. You'd have a case if you'd have argued about the Gold subscription being $10 more than the PS+ one, but this thing?

Or the cloud saving joke, or the automatic updates joke, or something similar that Sony promoted as a big FEATURE in order to have more bulletin points on their slides.

Yeah. Like I said, they didn't completely lie, but they kinda did. The way they presented it at their conference, it made the impression of a universal "feature".

QC: Might be what you referred to as the next Xenoblade game but I'm not sure.
Looks interesting, let's just hope they have improved the combat (and side quests) which were both awful (IMHO) in Xenoblade.

Is it really confirmed it's a new Xenoblade game or just a fourth game series starting with an X ? (Unless of course Monolith somehow managed to grab back the rights for Gears or Saga)

Sure, everyone offers special discounts, but who is offering the best? That's the whole point of this: if you are going to pay for one of these services, and since both have now tied multiplayer into their services, many of us will essentially be forced to buy into one of them, which one is going to give you the best value for your dollar? Right now, that is clearly PS+.

The price already makes the case on its own, along with it not being required for media services, but since no one is debating that fact with me, why would I bother making that case? I'm just responding to the arguments levied against my point, no more, no less.

I didn't see Sony overly emphasizing any of that as so-called "big features" of the service, just as a factual listing of what they do actually offer. If none of that appeals to you, so be it, but that doesn't change the fact that they are features that some people will find desirable.

Wow, a handful of games discounted, most of them Worms. Watch me rush out and get an Xbox right now, just for that This is what PS+ offers this week:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/06/10/playstation-plus-e3-2013-sale-free-machinarium-uncharted-3-xcom-more/

20+ games on sale, plus 4 more free games. Which is offering the better value?

I think the distinction being, there is no system-level infrastructure on PS4 for DRM, like there is on the Xbox. If publishers continue to use 'project $10' tactics then, while shitty, isn't really on Sony.

True, about 6 hours ago it was Sleeping Dogs on discount, and a few other titles that I don't recall. And you forgot Fable 3, Assassin's Creed 2 and what was the other game that is currently free for XBox Live Gold.

Oh, and you said that XBox Live had no discounts, not that it had fewer.

Actually they've been saying that since before E3.

You can expect one of two things from this, publishers who make games on both systems won't enforce DRM on either one, or they'll enforce DRM on both. I'd guess the latter since it's really been publishers pushing for this (and getting off scot-free, too. Letting MS take the brunt of the consumer backlash).
They didn't lie. When they say it's up to the publishers he means things like online passes, over which they don't have any control over. So it will be exactly like the current gen, no more no less.
