Nope, Nintendo really has no place in the modern market, hardware brand loyalty of the old sort is dying/dead, all that is going to matter is the technical specs and raw power of the hardware, and the quality of the software (as it should be really), as well as getting your software to as many potential customers as possible, which is why their were so few exclusives at E3, even the big names now can't convince devs (outside their own internal studios) to forego profits to selling on "the other" console.

If PS4 does "win" over XB1 (as it probably will) it will be because of it's hardware and the games (software), not because of any brand loyalty to Sony. Nintendo will sink with it's flag sailing if it thinks never-ending Mario and Zelda rehashes as nostalgic appeals will save them. They need to make hardware which has more power than a toaster.

I am excited for the new Xenoblade game. I wasn't able to play Chronicles since it's so expensive on the used market (no new copies anywhere), so hopefully this one will fair better since it's not a Gamestop exclusive.

The Wii U might be a safe haven for JRPGs though.

What JRPG's? The only company that makes half decent JRPG's nowadays is Atlus, and afaik they haven't touched the Wii U. And don't you care say Zelda is an RPG

Probably referring to the Xenoblade series. Xenoblade Chronicles was supposedly very good but it is impossible to find on the US because of the stupid Gamespot exclusibity deal. That new X game for the Wii U looks pretty good too.

QC: Does that dis-include that mech-gear looking game?

kodeen: I can't actually watch the Direct at work, what game is that? To be honest, the two things I was looking for were the new Mario game (was hoping for something a little more original) and the new Retro game (was hoping for something grander in scale). If there's a new game that I missed out on I'd be happy to know about it.

The only other potential positive for me is Bayonetta 2. I haven't played the first yet, and I'm not a huge fan of spectacle fighters, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Might be what you referred to as the next Xenoblade game but I'm not sure.
Very impressed by Nintendo's outing, but obviously since it was devoid of actual personality after a battle of the personalities this year, people will put it in the back of their minds. I look to check out the Best Buy demos and hopefully purchase the console later this year. 3DS also looks very tempting, as by year's end it will have had a lot of really great titles that I want to play!

Regardless, not the best Nintendo set of reveals. Should have been longer and spent a lot more time on the third party developers, rather than mentioning "They exist, we promise!". They are bringing Gamecube quality to this next generation, and let's hope they can keep steam for years to come.

God damn it gonna have to get a xbox one now due to the halo teaser trailer for 2014. not bad a little close to destiny and I can spot the produce replicates to sell item already but nice setting of the mood. ill try settle with some decent E3 coverage and contribute something useful in this conversation later on :)

Again, filtered at work, but I think I saw a screenshot of the new X(enoblade) game and it looked like it had a mech, so that's probably what you were talking about. Hopefully it's good!
So FFXV and KH3 have been confirmed to be on the Xbox One but that was to be expected. I don't think anything about PC was mentioned do you think we can get it? The architecture is basically the same after all, isn't it?

Part of what made it short is this was a Wii U only stream, they're planning a 3DS specific stream later in the week.
So I watched the Nintendo Direct...

-Pokemon X and Y, looks nice for the most part. Kind of cringed with the new Pokemon type they've introduced (Fairy) as well as the new way to interact with Pokemon (petting them and such, to me it seemed like lazy fan service), but other than that I liked it. Certainly something to look forward to.

-Mario 3D World, meh. Mario 3D Land was okay for the most part, not really excited for this one.

-3D Party Releases, just some stuff that's also coming to other consoles (Origins, Watch Dogs, etc.). Deus Ex Director's Cut might be one I'd buy, but only when it's on sale. Not really sure about SMT4, but will keep an eye on that.

-Zelda Wind Waker HD, All I'm seeing is an overabundance of bloom and some changes to the textures. They've changed one thing that had some gameplay impact, now it's just an extra way to get help with in-game stuff. I certainly hope this isn't all they've changed, while the game looks nice (despite the extra bloom) it doesn't really seem like something I really want to pay full price for.

-The Wonderful 101, looks nice (and looks like the game will make good use out of the gamepad).

-Bayonetta 2, I liked the first one and this one...doesn't seem to different from the looks of it (when looking at the gameplay). Hopefully they'll be more changes to this. The one thing I didn't like was the SEGA logo plastered onto the ending of the trailer, I thought they weren't a part of this game's development.

-Smash Bros, 3DS and Wii U versions look nice for the most part. Megaman is now the new character? Okay...I was hoping for X but whatever. I hope tripping isn't in this version, that crap needs to die in a fire.

-X, looks like Xenoblade with mechs and other forms of transportation. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this.

Some things to look forward to.
