Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 were campy and very much made for fans, they were in a Western setting but they were very much Japanese games. MGS4 basically just took a huge shit on the lore, the characters, and it was also completely Westernized, including the long cinematics. MGS1-2 had cinematics, but most of the story was still done via Codec conversations.

MGS2 had some great philosophical themes and deconstructions of video games in general, while Guns of the Patriots felt like an action-flick

DraculaMarth: As someone who is a fighting game fan, I can tell you: STAY AWAY FROM KI3. It's a Rare IP but Double Helix is making it.

Their track record includes
Silent Hill Homecoming
The game based on Battleship
The game based on Green Lantern

In other words, they don't make good games
Not only that. KI3 looks like a Street Fighter IV clone. Great, because that's exactly what KI1 and 2 were, mirite?

Ugh, way to bring back a franchise just to destroy it before its release.

Unbelievable, how dare you say that to Metal Gear Solid 4 :(

Also I personally like Big Boss' Metal Gear games better.

MSX (and MGS3 bonus) MG2 was awesome. I mean, it was a game where a frail elderly unarmed scientist in a lab coat was a legit boss fight. Also, venomous hamsters, and the owl puzzle.
So...

The Phantom Pain: Metal Gear Solid 5. It looks amazing graphics wise. The gameplay part kind of looks like mixing together Assassins Creed and Red Dead Redemption (open world wise). From the looks of the trailer it's taking place around the events of Peace Walker? (Just from the appearance of Miller). Looks nice, but I'm not really looking forward to the story part of it, Metal Gear Solid 2 ruined the whole story part of the series for me. One thing I want to know is how the PC version is going to play out (Rising was hinted at getting a PC port, Wikipedia has Windows on the platforms it's going to be released on), years after MGS2 got a PC port and now Metal Gear Solid is no longer going to be exclusive to consoles from the looks of it.

Dark Souls 2 made an appearance, but that was it. Nothing about how differently it's going to play, nothing about the story, nothing about difficulty compared to the other games, just nothing. It was just there (and it's just a current gen release looking at the gameplay footage).

Ryse looked interesting when the trailer started, but then the gameplay happened and turned the whole thing into a "meh" trailer. Looks nice though, if the developers could kindly take away 90-100% of the quicktime events I could get behind it.

Project Spark looks like fun...but is it just a reskined Little Big Planet game with many more design and mechanic options? That's the only part that confused me.

Witcher 3 is now on the Xbox One, but this really shouldn't come to a surprise to anyone (after all, it's on Steam and the Xbox 360). Looking forward to it.

Battlefield 4...meh. Again, the graphics look nice. And I'm kind of shocked that COD didn't make an appearance, where's your new dog model? :B

Minecraft? I already bought the game on PC.

Quantum Break...still confused as to how this will play out.

Killer Instincts looked interesting.

Forza Motorsport 5. "We're using the cloud feature of the Xbox One so we don't have to work on AI ourselves." The adaptive AI through the use of the cloud kind of sounded interesting, but not really into racing games. Overall it was a "meh". Off topic but, how is it (from my perspective) that racing games look so much smoother and better looking than other games?

TitanFall, oh hey we have Gund...I mean mechs. Otherwise it's just a "meh".

Swery65's D4 was the biggest surprise of MS conference for me. Sadly, console exclusive again, so here you go YouTube.

I'm curious what Bioware is going to show from DA3.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is long before MGS2 so you probably don't have to worry about MGS2 refernces.

Elmofongo: 1.Like what?
Too much talking and cinematics, plus Japanese weirdness, mainly.

Elmofongo: 2. How so?
Seemed to be lacking the quirky humor and colorful environments.

E3 presentation didn't say or show nothing concrete but Eurogamer helped:
Creative lead Sam Lake explained that Quantum Break is both a game and a TV show and your decisions in the game will influence your version of the show, which will in turn grant more insight into the game. Sounds wildly ambitious at any rate.

Quantum Break is about a man named Jack Joyce who survived a science experiment that killed his brother. Curiously, the event gave Jack peculiar time-manipulation powers where the fourth dimension stutters and freezes. For reasons that aren't clear, the world is about to end and Jack needs to use his new found powers to save it.

Sounds interesting. I'm just curious on how the whole game to TV show thing will work.

Well this game seems to eliminate the Japanese weirdness entirely. And come on give the series a chance and at least try to get into the story.

Me too. I like Remedy's work a lot. Hopefully, they will make a PC port like they did with Alan Wake. *fingers crossed*
I actually liked the Microsoft conference. They've showed some great games there. Oh, if it weren't for the always online BS. Titan Fall looks amazing.

U$499 is kind of expensive, though.

I mean I'll give it a shot if it comes to a platform I own, I'm just not going to get super excited for it.

Low number of actually relevant objects, physics calculations limited to cars, AI does not need to find its way through a forest, low set viewpoint allows for relatively short detailed rendering distance. You can cut so many corners this way.
