JC Denton & Paul Denton
Christopher Blair & Todd Marshall
Too bad it's not about a trio, I would have say: Bernard, Laverne and Hoagie from Day of the Tentacle.
As for duos:
- Ratchet and Clank
- "Ico" and Yorda
- Wander and Agro (from Shadow of the Colossus)
- Indiana Jones & Sophia Hapgood (Fate of Atlantis, in "Team" path)
And I surely forget some...

nicolaierdk: Must be a trio right?

Aliasalpha: No, the boobies form their own seperate but connected entity and therefore count as a single unit. When sad pathetic teenagers were whacking off to early renders of Lara (I was 21 at the time so its not sad & pathetic when I did it), were they looking at just one or looking at them as a unified whole? I think that almost everyone was doing the latter (or wishing they could do them anyway) and because of that,

Aliasalpha: Guybrush Threepwood & Elaine Marley (might not count since elaine was an objective rather than a sidekick half the time)

Sexist :o
it was the objective of 1 & 2 to rescue her, 3 to cure her of the curse and she's at the whole bondage on a ship thing again in Tales, I think she likes it. She was the objective making her an object (especially in 3 where she basically became an object). There, I've objectified women!

Mentalepsy: HAY GUYS WAT ABT. MASTEAR CHIEF I MEAN THATS NOT A DUO BUT STILL LOL

Well master chief and cortana could count but they're nothing special really, badass space marine ripoff and sassy female voice in your ear, big whoop.
if you're going for badass and sassy voice in the ear, I'd pick Sam Fisher & Anna Grimsdottir from Splinter Cell

Actually, though I've only played the first Halo, I really liked Cortana as a character. Though that may just be because Jen Taylor really sold the role for me. That could also be why I'm such a fan of Left 4 Dead's Zoey. Regardless, while I don't think the Chief (as portrayed in the game) is all that spectacular, his sidekick does warrant a mention, I'd say. (Admittedly, though, I've also read the Halo novels, and they do give the Chief a good bit of backstory and he becomes a much more interesting character. Oddly enough, it's Cortana who doesn't get any real development since she kinda doesn't even -exist- in most of those books (which are largely set before the events of the games.)
Though I will agree that the Sam/Grim byplay was one of the best parts of the Splinter Cell games, and I was actually kinda irked when they changed Grim's voice actress midway through the franchise. The new Grim just didn't sound quite right. And then she wasn't around at all in Double Agent, and that was just... not right.
