langurmonkey: But how is what he did, wrong? He did something that disgusted many people, that is it. What he did, is on the same level, as someone letting out a nasty fart at the dinner table.
I'm not a fanatic. Every time I said the torturing and killing of animals, I meant the torture and killing of animals. I have nothing against the killing of animals if it is necessary(like for survival or food if there are no super markets you can go to). If a bear breaks into your house and threatens your family, nothing wrong with killing the bear. I have nothing against people who eat cheeseburgers unless the cows were tortured first. The torture part is what I'm against, and then killing them afterwards is insult to injury because all they got to experience from life was pain.
amok: can you please move this out of this tread? if you have such burning feelings for this topic then create a new thread and take it there, this is derailed enough now. And a fanatic is a person who see a issue in black and white only - a ultimate truth and everything else is wrong - so far you have proven to be so. also to have double standard - I am sure the cow "volunteered" to be cheeseburger. Now I am done with you, take this elsewhere please.
No, that is not the definition of a fanatic. And the cow obviously didn't volunteer to be meat for a cheeseburger but if it lived a nice life then I don't see the big deal because people need to eat. How is being against the torturing and killing of animals but being okay with killing an animal who has lived a good life for survival "also to have double standard"? Why should I make my own thread? What should I respect this possible troll thread?
langurmonkey: No it isn't wrong unless he purposely did it only to disgust people and ruin the event for everyone. He didn't know better obviously and nobody here was harmed. No animals were tortured and killed in a laboratory because of what he did. Creating a thread that entices people to say bad things about him and calling him a douche bag is overreacting to what he did. I've also noticed that people from Romania and similar countries are not sensitive to such things like dead animal pics. That part of the world has a lot of farms so people see dead animals often. Maybe that is why he didn't know better?
PaterAlf: I agree that calling him a douchebag wasn't very nice, but I can't see that Bavarian enticed people to say bad things about Licurg. And about him not knowing better: He might have been surprised about the reactions at first, but long after first people complained, he asked for bloodier photos and refused entries that tried to participate in a more sensible way.
Of course it is his giveaway and he can do whatever he likes, but in my eyes he crossed the line for what is appropriate for a public forum (at least for a gaming forum, wouldn't mind if we were in a hunting forum).
When people start attacking you like you are the worst person in the world, it is human nature to become very defensive. Bavarian could of just posted in Licurg's thread, sharing his thought that what Licurg is doing is offensive to him and probably to many people. If you create a thread, you are enticing people to respond and when the OP is about Licurg doing something offensive, naturally, people who want to say bad things about him, will do so without fear. They will join the angry mob. Strength in numbers.
