On a related note, have you played the Wallace and Gromit games by Telltale? I haven't heard anything on those, but they look amazing

I got the first one free with my Monkey Island pre-order. In all honesty, only chose it because I was already Sam & Maxed out. But it was surprisingly good. If you like the gentler humour and pace of Wallace & Gromit you'll appreciate just how masterful its translation into episodic gaming really is.

Yeah I'd definitely recommend it if you're a W&G fan. That reminds me I must finish the last episode of the season, I got it just after my dental operation and it hurt too much to laugh so I had to stop playing
You should try Bone as well. When I did the preorder of Wallace & Gromit (Telltale are the ONLY company I've ever pre-ordered from), I got a coupon for 50% off any other purchase, I decided to replace my lost disc copy of S&M series 1 (woohoo for digital downloads) and since it was so cheap for a bundle of both the episodes I decided to whack Bone on the order as well. Damned glad I did, excellent games and its a damn shame they stopped making them

Glad to hear it, I think I'll pick up all the Telltale stuff when I get a little extra money. I forgot about Bone! What is it about Wallace and Gromit that works but not Bone? Man, they're all such good series. Reminds me, I have to buy this:

Sure, those that don't grasp the nature of episodic gaming might disagree. Like those reviewers complaining that the first episode lacked a climactic conclusion (really?! Wow! Who'd have thought!). But for those who can understand that episodic gaming works differently, Telltale are great.

Well personally, im quite new to episodic gaming, but so far the only downside is waiting for the next episode.
No climatic ending? I dont mind. And the ending of MI episode 1 wasnt that bad.

Well I just finished it, damned good experience all round even if this one was on the short side. I think this one was funnier than the first episode and the ending is certainly a good one

You can tell that they're Telltales earliest games but they still have a hell of a lot of good points. I'd really love them to go back and finish the series or at least explain why they aren't doing them, maybe they didn't sell well, there's licence troubles or some other weird issue

I read a story somewhere about the Bone series right before Sam & Max season 2 started.
Basically, the games didn't sell very well at all, people probably weren't ready for episodic games. Gametap needed something to make them more noticable so they worked withTelltale on Sam & Max season 1 and since Gametaps model was better for episodic games, the rest is history. Overall, I think it was a good move on their part. Now if they ever decide to go back to Bone (although I doubt it), there will be an audience for it.
