What we all hope for this release, if it ever gets released through gog.com.
I for one hope that they integrate graphic updates the modders have made.
Or even better. Make completely new enhanced graphics
It's a nice thing to hope for, but
1. Most of the EULAs in the existing games say that GOG.com is in no way held responsible for modded content (because it's typically against the EULA), and if they made it part of the basic download, would then be held responsible for a third parties code, and in most instances it's not worth it to license the tools necessary to either decompile or read the files these third parties have created to ensure their 100% safety.
2. The Website itself here says that it is not responsible for third party content, just like the EULA.
So both the TOS and EULA are currently against that sort of thing.
But whatever I mean, anything's possible. The U.S. could have it's first Black President or first Female Vice President. How crazy is that, eh? To think that we'd see it at sometime in our lives..
Also, SEA BATTLE!
Personally I prefer to play the games as they were originally created, flaws and all. That way you can understand how well the developers worked within their limitations to create an experience as effectively as possible. Besides, you can always install the mods separately afterwards.
What's the point? Someone will just make a thread with all known mods/ the best mods just like they did with Fallout 1/2

This has been done for ALL games.
Yes, I prefer to get the naked, unadulterated game and simply let them SUGGEST mods for use to try. Much more responsible and less messy, imo.

Oh, I wasn't sure because I haven't really taken a look at any other game specific boards. Good to know anyways.
Even still...
This is The Game that we need for gog.com
even now i still can remember the hours i spent in the middle of the night playing this and getting spooked by slightest sounds made in apartment.
And the plot twist with SHODAN was absolutely genious.
If EA is going to make a new System Shock game, then let us all hope they aren't going to make it "simple" for consoles. that just ruins it on PC-platform.
Game companies should still just concentrate on making different versions of the games for different platforms instead of making same game for all platforms.

Same here. I often find user created content to somehow disturb the original feeling of the game. Like high-resolution texture packs, which often focus on characters only, and seem out of place when encountered in the game. I like games to be consistent, and the only way to keep it like that, is to remake everything, which of course no modding team has the the capacity to do.

NO MODDING TEAM HAS THE CAPACITY!

It's very easy to install the graphical mods yourself.

deathkitten: wow, it's like they invented a "NMN" (No More .) face cream ;D

I'm completely confused

Weclock: NO MODDING TEAM HAS THE CAPACITY!

Alright, point taken ;-)
Let me correct myself y saying that *most* modding teams don't have that capacity.
As far as gog.com is concerned, I agree with the statements above: just list the available mods and let the gamers decide which version they prefer.

deathkitten: i'd guess the big bit saying OPTION PACK at the top probably has something to do with it :p :)
badass!!!!
(though that doesn't affect what I have said before regarding the character... too "nice" v stereotypical girl next door mould.. others agree)

What are you talking about? She seems pretty down to Earth to me, Barnyard style.

deathkitten: i think you're the kind of man it's impossible to explain to :p

one of the dudes on there said his favorite female character for depth was Aerith.. assuming that is of course from FFVII..
I threw up a little bit just then.
