As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it's easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. We've been running one day "Gaming Gem" promos for a while now to highlight some classic titles that don't get the love of some of our best-known blockbusters like Baldur's Gate or Duke Nukem 3D. To celebrate summer, for the next two weeks until July 25th, we're going to run a Gaming Gem promo every day, so you can rediscover these lesser-known classics! Grab that plastic toy shovel and dig out gem after gem over the next 18 days. We think every game we're going to be offering on our Summer GOG.com Gem Extravaganza will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

World War II history freaks, get your monies ready! We have something especially for you on the plate today. If you’re a bit tired of reading about the biggest conflict in the history of humanity, why not recreate it on our PC and not harm anyone? In [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/strategic_command_european_theater]Strategic Command: European Theater instead of being a cog of the war machine, you look at the big picture managing armies, negotiating politics, and making all the strategic decisions. It’s a very complex and detailed representation of a table top wargame, where you as the supreme commander of either Allies or Axis forces play through six campaigns from the very beginning of the conflict till its last days. Although this seems to be a game only appealing to “grognards”, the AI lets less advanced gamers play and enjoy the game. With multiplayer options allowing to play over Internet, hot-seat or the old school way “Play By Email”, the ones looking for a bigger challenge will find something for themselves as well.

Strategic Command: European Theater is 60% off for the next 24 hours and can be yours for only $3.99. Get it until tomorrow, July 25 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (9:59 a.m. GMT). If you already own this title or it’s just not your type of game, be sure to check back tomorrow for the last Summer Gem Promo!

This one looks like a hard core strategy game - might have to give it a try.

Any opinions on the deal?
So... is this the last hidden gem, or will there be another tomorrow? Was hoping the sale would go out with a bang... Planescape: Torment, or Another World, or even Two Worlds... something... ?
The end of today's deal says "...check back tomorrow for the last Summer Gem Promo"

These games always confused the pants off me. Way too many numbers.

I agree with ddmuse, if this is the last hidden gem, we've gone out with more of a fizzle than a bang.

EDIT: Ah, thanks jkimrey, it's not the last one. Phew!

Lol. Ok, I see it now. That's what I get for skipping the blurb when I'm not interested in the game. ;-)
Cant help but feel slightly disappointed with today's Gem.....

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against this type of game but was hoping for Panzer General 2 to appear in this promo. :-(

And the fact that it's not listed as Windows 7 compatible.

Here's hoping the last day of the promo doesn't end up as a damp squib.
