As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it's easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. We've been running one day "Gaming Gem" promos for a while now to highlight some classic titles that don't get the love of some of our best-known blockbusters like Baldur's Gate or Duke Nukem 3D. To celebrate summer, for the next two weeks until July 25th, we're going to run a Gaming Gem promo every day, so you can rediscover these lesser-known classics! Grab that plastic toy shovel and dig out gem after gem over the next 18 days. We think every game we're going to be offering on our Summer GOG.com Gem Extravaganza will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

What&rsquo;s cool about games, among other things, is that they let you do things you&rsquo;d probably never do in your life. Do you remember when as a kid you told everyone you&rsquo;d grow up to be a firefighter, an astronaut or a race car driver? Did anyone of you want to pilot some of the greatest attack helicopters? With today&rsquo;s one-day promo you can do it for cheap! &lt;A href="[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/apache_vs_havoc"&gt;Enemy]http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/apache_vs_havoc"&gt;Enemy Engage: Apache vs Havoc</a> lets you control two combat helicopters: AH-64D Apache Longbow and its Russian counterpart, the formidable Mi-28M Havoc B. The game is one of the best helicopter simulators ever created and puts you in one of three vast combat zones. The best thing is every campaign is fully dynamic and will never play the same twice. Add to that fully 3D terrain, day and night missions in different weather conditions, highly detailed 3D helicopter models, and multiple difficulty configurations and everyone can enjoy this state of the art simulation. Last but not least, join your friends over the Internet and play in one team or against each other just like you did in the old days when you dreamed of growing up to have a really cool job.

Grab Enemy Engage: Apache vs. Havoc within the next 24 hours and save 60%. The game will cost you only $2.39, until tomorrow, July 22 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (9:59 a.m. GMT). If you already own this title or it’s just not your type of game, be sure to check back tomorrow for another Summer Gem Promo!
Man, I’d love try this one but I have an astronomical amount of games yet to play from my backlog of all the summer sales here and from those other game pushers. I never thought I’d see the day that I would be turning away awesome games costing only $2+ , but at this point unless the game is one that I feel I can’t live without I’ll need to pass. I’m not just a game addict anymore, but now I seem to be fighting off the addiction of game collecting.

Perkel: Game is gold !

Once you fire your first hellfire rocket from behind montain only using radar and nav you will love it !

Game is TOTAL SIMULATION so don't think that once you've played IL 2 your the booss.

Good joystick is must for this game.

Keybord binding will give you serious mind&&&& as almost all keys are used and alost all keys are used with alt, shift, ctrl.

Lexor: So, taking into consideration my last, so far unanswered question - this game is a no-no for me?
Sometimes they can be fun for a bit but for non-flight/flight sim buffs these are very tedious.

Well, there are a lot of keys to learn, and like most any flight simulator, you can play with a keyboard, but you're going to have a lot less fun, deal with the difficulties of not having precision control, and find things more cumbersome than they need to be.

However, there are settings that allow you to change realism levels, give yourself infinite ammo, make yourself invulnerable, etc, so you can just print out the controls and fly around without consequence. At least, you can in Comanche vs Hokum. It's probably the same in Apache vs Havok, but it's been a while.

If you're having doubts, I guess that's a no, but I can't name a helicopter sim I've enjoyed more than these two.

i think originally, GOG was only going to have 18 days of summer hidden gems. By my count today's gem is #14. Only 4 more days left. :)

My count btw is GOG 4, wallet 10. Although I missed a few of them that I wanted to buy...Enclave, Freedom Force, and (borderline for) In Cold Blood, and Celtic Kings. This was a great sale and I ended up trying out games I would never have bought in a million years that I ended up loving. heh.

I hear you...I seem to have become a game collector. There's no way I will be able to play them all realistically and raise my son. I guess I'll have to finish playing them all after he leaves the house. In the meantime, I can trade lattes for classics here on GOG.
Darn you GOG, another game added to the backlog!

I'm not sure about this one since I've just bought it, but most hard-core sim games come with realism settings which allow you tune just what level of realism you want to play at. IL-2 is a hardcore simulation game but you can turn on/off stalls, red/black outs, and many other settings and make it much easier/harder if you want to. I imagine this game is the same.

IL2 is proper simulatipm but enemy engaged series is just something else. Think Microsoft flight simulator.

If you play il2 you can play it by joystick weel but in AvsHavoc you need joystick and Keyboard all the time. And it's not just 10 keys. Its literaly 3*your tipical keybord.

That is why Apache vs Havoc is so awasome. Because they emualted almost all aspects of those helicopters !. Radar few diffrent modes and then zooming etc. You can change on fly missle guidance. Tracking steering counter missle flares and list goes on.

I remember that there was phirephal like tablets those days where you could put avsh profile in it and you had full console of buttons.

AvsH is closest thing you can get in therm of helicopter simulation. Next one is Comanche vs hocum from same company.

I see what you're saying. Although I might add that part of the reason for fewer options in IL-2 is that IL-2 in simulating WWII aircraft would intrinsically not have some of those controls! :P

To be honest I don't even play IL-2 with complex engine management like adjusting fuel mixture, the supercharger, magnetos, prop pitch, etc, turned on. That's just too much simulation for me. :)

However, the things you mention I can see really adding to the fun of gameplay rather than simply adding complexity - especially with how passionately you speak of them. :) I look forward to trying it out. Cheers.

Fire a rocket behind mountain and watch how this rocket hits target :) ... it's good :)
