This is more a general 'area of interest' suggestion for the GOG.com team rather than any specific games - the latter's what the wishlist is for :P Anyway, in terms of which games the team should be trying to get licensed, I would strongly suggest games that use Starforce or SecuROM 7. There have been significant numbers of people who refuse to buy games using either of those systems (e.g. Silent Hunter 3 for Starforce, Empire at War and FEAR for Securom 7) and this could lead to higher sales on gog.com compared to games that people are re-buying to get them to work on newer windows.
I had bought Empire At War without even knowing it had DRM.. I don't know I don't think SecurRom 7 is that bad.
I never really had to deal with that. Then again I played the game all of twice before going 'lol I suck really bad at this.' and sold it.
Good idea. I can think of a least a few games where starforce has been an issue.
1. the new sid meiers colonization.and railroads BOTH of them would not run as it kept on saying I did not have the original discs. ( So dispite the fact that I was a good little boy and bought the originals I still had to seach out no-dvd cracks)
2. Space Rangers 2. Apparently A grea game, but I wouldent know since the bugger refused to run due to starforce drivers
And lets not forget the starforce drivers that can beshitter the most stable of pc.
So I second your idea...
Good suggestion, however there is a slight problem. SecuROM 7 is relatively new so the games it has been applied to aren't really "good old games", they are more like "good new games".

Yes.
Good OLD games.
Why does everybody tend to forget this?!
I'd like to see that everyone keeps in mind that this is a website dedicated to the old games.

Wait... The new colonization has starforce? Crap. I was really looking forward to that game. No buying it now then. :(
Space Rangers 2 was a great game. I had a lot of fun with it. It would be a game I would go back to a lot if it weren't for Starforce. I had to reformat my drive and since then I have kept it off.

"Not brand new" is just as good a definition for "Good Old Game" as "ancient". To the hardcore compulsive game buyer, "old" is a few months past.
I would be extremely satisfied to trade "releaase day" purchase for "delayed but DRM-free". In fact, the latter would guarantee purchases for many games, and I would pay "new game" prices. The presence of DRM guarantees no purchase.

Yes.
Though I suspect GOG had it as a "bundle" from Codemaster catalogue (which is quite not so old).

GOG should be named VGOG then :P
I agree with the fact of selling DRM-free but delayed "recent" games, though I would not support the fact they be sold here. Opening a new store, why not... but not here :( "A place for good old games."
And with the actual context, I highly doubt it would be realizable :D
I bought TOCA 3 because I knew they had removed StarForce. I found that rather compelling, in addition to being an amazing looking racer.
I would never have bought it, or even tried it if I got it for free, with StarForce on it!
I could go for seeing some StarForce protected games on GOG without any DRM.
i.e. PoP: The Two Thrones.
I wanted to play Chaos League... but it was starforced over here. :-(

Is there somewhere a definition of "OLD" that I'm not aware of? It's not "Good Ancient Games" site, why does everybody tend to forget this?
I'd like to see that everyone keeps in mind that this is a website dedicated to the old games. 2006 game is old, 199x is ancient. Personally I really hope CD Projekt meant GOG instead of GAG and that we'll see more titles from this century than from the previous one.

Same with Chaos league sudden death, played that to death on my old computer with no problems. Tried it on my new vista computer...starforce wentcrazyarsemental and it too me a few hours to sort out the mess.
even then the game would only work 1/10 times I put the cd in.
Was there any version that wasnt starforced?. LIke the australian version you sometimes see on ebay? might be worth a purchase...at least till "blood bowl" comes out

Yep sorry to break it too you.
If I recall civ 4 also had quite a bad copy protection. So bad that after a few patches they removed the protection and you could run the game without the cd as there had been so many problems/complaints
