Bigs: I'll admit I initially downrepped the initial post... but changed my mind
After the 2nd post though... I think I was right the first time

A new user - probably first post - complains about FREE games, hasn't bought anything on here, then comes across all holier than thou in the 2nd post...

I smell a troll.

Seriously... if you have such concerns (GOG installers are yours, DRM free and can be backed up to WHEREVER YOU LIKE) search for another service or create one yourself

This site has THOUSANDS of users, has been around for years and is great in every way

Your call. I'm done here.
He who smellt it dealt it...

I did have a REAL, ORIGINAL, BOUGHT AND PAYED FOR games collection which is lost to me now..
If I had to store it all in backup copies etc (and they sometimes FAIL..) I'd need storage facility..
...been there...done that..lost it...

FYI...6000+ games from newest of the new to old cardboard bpoxes and floppy disks..

Maybe he means 'minor'? Either way it doesn't really make sense and is a really confusing first post for someone new to a site/forum.

ZMacZ: If your game collection would be as huge as mine was (and will be) you'd be concerned
with having the play rights and capability to download them whenever..
Whether or not you can play them WITH or WITHOUT play managers...(like ORIGIN, where I also have an account)
I don't care about the managers...just if MY software WILL be available for download when I need it back for WHATEVER reason..and THAT is worth $5 a month to me..in the worst case I'd have a stack of cash on
here to spend on a new game..
That's good for you, but have you ever thought about other people? Just look around on this forum a little bit. There are a lot of people here from low-income areas, who cannot afford spending a fixed 5$ each month, because they have to live on a very tight budget. Not to mention people from higher income areas who aren't that rich.
You on the other hand could just buy two cheap HDDs (one main, one backup)and it would amount to the same.

Also, you don't have to worry, GOG.com isn't going anywhere in the near future. It's growing pretty strongly, actually.
I'm pretty sure compulsive monthly fees would actually reduce GOG.com's appeal and drive more people to Steam, who donÄt have a system like this.
Heh, reminds me of the "Miner Dwarves" in the mines area of Wizardry 6. And their larger, tougher versions, the "Major Dwarves."

I'm 25 if he means minor... but somehow I doubt that's what he means...

Hey ZMac if you want a subscription based model why not go to Gametap or GameFly...? I personally prefer to purchase the games on GOG on my own terms, not a contracted model...

I MAY be new to this site, but not to games, forums or game sites...
And if you think it's confusing, sorry about that...I tried explaining it in detail..

I'll stick to my condensed version...

If you buy $5 worth (or more) games on here each month simply say yes...

ZMacZ: Talk about wasted space on this topic ?
Hey man, you're the one who randomly started talking about miners for no apparent reason.
I'm totally confused. How are GOG games not available to you whenever you want them?
What am I misreading?

and apart from that, up until now I have spent $5 a month on games but that could end tomorrow and then I'd be screwed.

Y'know, I find it hard to defend you from down-reppers, if you keep writing these condescending posts...

Oh, no, I just meant you seem to be new to this particular site and its forum, not to forums and websites in general. Apologies for the confusion there.

I haven't downrepped any of your posts, but you aren't exactly being open to differing opinions either. Your 'suggestion' alone is "Agree with me to pay $5 a month or go fuck off", so I can understand other posters hostility towards you right now.
ZMac, what are you trying to accomplish here? Nobody, if very few, are going to want a subscription based model.. and I doubt GOG is looking at this thread considering it, even if we all DID want it that way..
