Kabuto: It's still not a very good port from what I hear regardless of drm and you better have a lot of spare bandwidth with its 15gb download size.

This was true for the first release version, which was truly messed up. But with every patch (I think there are 4 now) it got a lot better, and I take it the Steam version will be patched to the latest. You still need to have a fairly powerful rig (I think 2 cores is a must, 4 is better). I played it after only applying the first patch, surely played 50+ hours and never had a single glitch or crash, only the occasional slight slowdown. By now it is a good PC port.
DRM breakdown:
* SecuROM with online activation, but no activation limits. Some say that SecuROM has been removed from the Steam version.
* Rockstar Social Club might be required for installation but you don't need to create an account unless you want multiplayer.
* Games for Windows you need to install because it manages the savegames, but that you need to register for an account is also a misinformation. You can simply choose offline mode and create a local profile. You will not collect any GfW achievements, but the game will work without a GfW account.
At least all this is true for the retail version.
Edit: I think one of the later patches made it possible to get rid of RGSC altogether.

gyokzoli: Btw., Osmos is a good game, well worth the 1,74€

Only if you were fast enough. It is now 2.24€ :/

It still shows 1,74€ here.
I probably won't buy something today though. I either have these titles, or would never be interested enough to play them.
Numen looks somewhat interesting. I'm a fan of ARPGs, and it looks interesting, but I'd like to hear more opinions on it. So, anyone...?

Just installed it, I'll play it for a bit and get back to you on this forum...
Ok, it's obviously not AAA. Occasionally the camera controls feel less than streamlined and the graphics are quite obviously last-gen, but there's something sort of satisfying about it and I LOVE the setting. It just feels nice, the sunny Mediterranean coastal landscape.
There's also something compelling and exciting about the levelling system. I've only played an hour and a half, but I am really looking forward to my potential hero. We'll see if the game can deliver on its promises. This may become one of those games that I love because it is just so PC. Sort of a roughly-cut diamond in a pile of impeccable cubic zirconium.
I make some strange metaphors.

Anyone played Chrome OR Specforce yet? If so, how do they hold up?

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it. I guess I'll get it for that price then - I love a nice diamond in the rough. ;-)
Just to add on Numen I've seen people posting their 'stats' prior to beating the final boss and it looks to only have about 15 hours of gameplay max. What's also funny is people getting to level 85 in those 15 hours.

akwater: Not the good ones... :) soryr drunk :) btu yeah. a good woman who can pull a sucker in acan make like 3500 baght per dsay so 100 us, )which incuelds place to stay meals etc(
fuck partying towth the charps tonight...........drank wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much, to much vidka and tequlia :) ahhah lol aghain sorry or as they sat here Ka Pum Krup

Yeah, I did imagined it wasn't the good ones, but just the ones in the streets...
So in Acan they can make let's say 5 days a week x 4 weeks, that's $2000 per month, now compare that to a hard worker at the factories having only $144, damn.. that's though.
I know that their lifestyle is different from the western here, but still it's though to live on ~$150 a month, to pay for food, rent, children expenses and all that.
Hehehe I've googled "Ka Pum Krup", and looks like you're the only person to say this. Are you in Thai right now, or this is just you "without hangover" imagining you're over there? :p

Gundato: Well, TFU2 is supposed to have dismemberment, right? If so, I suspect that the PC version could easily be modded to at least be on-par with the first JK (just crank up saber damage with trainers). Not perfect, but better than nothing.

You don't need trainers for that. IIRC in Outcast/Academy, just using a console command you could crank the dismemberment.

Gundato: As for GoG threads on Steam
...
So it stays alive. Simple as that.

Well I wouldn't troll and I am too, tired of the drm talk. But I would inform people about prices like the Interplay games there, compatibility, and so on for other titles.
Anyway, most gamers only buy at Steam and tend to concentrate only at that site, they don't even know that other sites such as GG or Impulse exists. So, spread the word about GOG.

fabricioz: Yesterday I bought 42 products (not games, but single games and packs - I believe it must be more than 60 games). Spent about 200 bucks.
DAMN!!! I Saw Max Payne in the banner yesterday, but couldn't find the game in the database!! WTF?

Woah, easy there... You lost control over your purchases, $200 in a day? :p
Max Payne, GTA IV and the other games by Rockstar are all restricted for Brazil. Only GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City is available for our country.
The 2K Games are also severely restricted. Just one or two months ago that they released the Civilization games for us.
GTA IV unavailable, but Episodes is - is there a reasoning behind that? Is there an actual legal ban, or does 2K just play it safe?

heh, but I have a lifetime to play these games! :D
About the 2K restriction, I don't know, but I've worked at Tech Dealer, brazilian 2K distributor. There were a lot of issues involving the distributing of their games, because Tech Dealer wanted a low price in reais, lower than the common 60 dollars in USA. So, the 2K, afraid of having americans buying the brazilian version, forced us to release the spanish dubbed version of the game. Everything is in spanish, but it was sold for 99 reais (about 40 dollars at the time, but 60 dollars now).
May this deal be one of the reasons?

Ban in Switzerland?! Did they banned GTA IV and the Episodes in Germany, at least?
I guess it's up to the publisher to decide in which countries/region they'll make the game available.

What a surprise, nice to know that you've worked for Tech Dealer. They did published Civilization 3 in Brazil.
Yes, that's the probable reason for the blocking here. Why they would let the gamers buy GTA IV PC version at Steam for R$10, while they can charge R$100 (nine times more) at retail? Get it? They're all about profit.
Currently, Synergex has the rights for the 2K/Rockstar here, not Tech Dealer.

gyokzoli: Anyway, anyone has any thoughts on Numen?

I bought it at the pre-order price a while ago. And haven't regretted it at all. It's very much in the same vein as Titan Quest in the style of a single player MMO. So a NMMO (Not Massively Multiplayer Offline game!?)
Only downside is the slightly quirky controls.

I believe you meant Civilization IV. I don't remember TD working with any previous version of Civilization. I did work in the release of Civ IV. Later, they published the expansions.
Yes, they're all about profit. But this exposes the large communication problem between the corporate and their distributors far away. 3rd party distributors in Latin America has little to no attention at all, because their venues are very low.
In fact, I hope these kind of distributors can come to an end and we could all enjoy of systems like Steam and GOG. Because here, I can pay the real price, not more nor less. And it goes directly to the developer and main publisher. Also, these distributors offer really lousy services.

Manhunt Trailer!! Yeah! Go rockstar Japan!
ps/ Anyone else get kinda relieved when there isn't anything they want on the Daily Deals? Means I'm closer to the end without spending loads on games I won't have time to play. ;-)
