Do they care about their store's website ?

Well they are probably just using the same magic compressor that Capcom uses for their DLC.

I think he meant to put "number two" in inverted commas. Like a euphemism.
Can't see how they would be bigger than GamersGate.

I was of course being sarcastic. However Wardell does claim that Impulse are the number two service and until DD stores start releasing sales figures (which they probably never will) then he can keep on claiming that even if its a complete lie as there is no proof to dispute it.

I'm assuming this is with Steam ... it's a known issue (especially if your connection has dodgy moments). Just restart the client and it should be OK, no need to redownload anything-

Hardly worthy of the R word really is it? Economic Isolationism at worst.

Region restrictions suck, no doubt about it, but this is not the fault of Stardock. They posted on their forums once that it is based on publisher demands, and if they do not comply, then they cannot sell a game at all. This is why I hate the market is moving towards digital distribution only, as it is going to severely limit our rights and give publishers an immense amount of control over games and how they are distributed and handled.
I am not making excuses for Stardock though. I would be more supportive if they stood up and spoke out against the poor practices of publishers, but so far, all digital distribution services seem to be bowing down to them.

Yeah, we've all heard that excuse. But when then challenged as to why all the other major services (including those that Stardock consider to have a smaller market share than themselves) can manage to sell the same games worldwide (for example with Ubisoft titles), when they only sell them to North America, they pretty much have nothing convincing to say. Pretty much because they can't admit that they are either absolutely shit at negotiations or that they simply couldn't give a rats arse about selling worldwide (despite wanting to be "number 1" in the industry).

I would like to put forward an option 3:
Despite their claims Impulse actually has a very small market-share and therefore the bigger publishers like Ubisoft and EA find it more profitable to do business with other companies such as Valve and GamersGate.

Which would, in fact, be a sign of their appalling negotiation skills =)
