Coelocanth: I'll say this for him: he's talking the talk by taking responsibility for this mess. I'm betting he'll walk the walk as well and Stardock will come out with a good product and they'll make good for their fans. I'm also betting they'll lose a lot of game customers over this one though, as well.

Man, he posts several other times in that same thread after the one that I quoted, and they're along the same lines...I'm rather astounded, to be honest.
The best part of it is seeing him say that tech fixes and tweaks aren't enough, and that major structural changes will be necessary. From everything I've read, that's certainly the case.
Pathetically, he actually has had to shout down some jackass fanboyz at a few spots (and in other threads who seem hellbent on convincing him everything's okay...it's not that bad. I have never seen that before. lol
I am not a big fan of Brad Wardell (in fact as far as impulse and gamers bill of rights is concerned he is a bag of hot wind), but he does have a history of actually getting stuff fixed and continues to support their products as opposed to many developers. And he also has a history of apologizing for broken stuff and then getting it fixed. If a game ships with issues even severe issues I tend to forgive it as long as things get fixed; plus support continues. Most pubs/devs shove their product out; maybe you get one patch and many/many bugs still remain.

Most official forums have it's fanboys that seem to think that everything *insert name of company/band/developer/whatever here* produces is the best thing since sliced bread. I'd imagine there's a fair number of people here who thinks The Witcher is the best game ever, for example.

Indeed. The Steam forums are boiling over with people who treat Valve as a infallible deity.
I don't understand why some people upgrade their computers ( buying a new video card ) at least two times in every year.

Because playing the newest games without everything on maximum is heresy!!!1!
And if you don't do it, you are not a |337 g4m3z0r!!ELEVEN!

Because they can (have too much money)??
Why do some people pimp cars?
Why do some people buy 2000$ bikes?
...
However, one can also buy a normal to decent computer every two years and play the games from three years before on maximum quality level. Its almost as much fun and costs only one tenth.

Oh, I agree (and wasn't saying that as a slight to him at all). I've just never seen a situation before where the company owner has to try and get the fanboyz to calm down and accept that the game is flawed. :)

Probably going to lose a lot of employees too. "There will be massive consequences for Stardock's game studio." Massive consequences can only mean one thing.

Everyone on the Elemental team joining the Object Dock team?
And on the subject of Windows docks, wut no 64-bit Rocket Dock version? Wut no Windows 7 version? (No, the taskbar is not the same: no stackable icons).
Ok, not bashing but two questions about steam annoyances:
1 - Does "delete local content" delete save games too? If so, how do i find out where the darn save games are stored (they seem everywhere. found stalker. can't find bob came in pieces.)
2 - Recently, while playing stalker, about 5 minutes after I start playing the game often gets minimised because a "steam update available" dialogue pops up. I'm sure this never used to happen. Either it used to pop up in the background and wait for me to exit the game, or it used to wait until you exited the game to check for updates.
Is this a recent change? Is it supposed to do that? Is it the new version of steam, or is it possibly just something unique to stalker?

Nah, it's just like an uninstall.

New thing to me, and I would not be happy about it if it happened to me either.

Thanks. Can't remember why i asked about 1 - but something must have made me ask.
2 might be only stalker. Hopefully won't happen with other games...

Officially? Yes they deeply care about maintaining their position as the number two direct download service in the world and value their customers happiness greatly.
Unofficially? GTFO
