Dammit, you beat me by a minute, DB! :)
I find this hilarious. He spends last year crowing that "We're #2, bitches!" Now something comes out that refutes his claim and suddenly "It really isn't a big deal."
Why do I suspect his words would be considerably different if Impulse had made a strong showing (or any showing) on this list?
This guy is a genius:
"Derek Smart says: Ignore Brad. That statement was rubbish." hahaha

DelusionsBeta: Brad Wardell's response to that report? Basically, he said it was rubbish. Full quote:
"NPD's numbers on digital don't tend to have much reflection on reality. As much as I would love digital distribution to take over the world, I can't think of a single publisher (including ourselves) that sells even close to a majority of its units digitally. I am a big believer in the future of digital distribution but the numbers we typically hear from publishers is that it's about a third (which is pretty darn good, by the way)."
Source

Yes, I remember reading that the greatest source of Demigod sales was Wal-Mart by a huge margin, not Impulse. It's a good thing to hear for packaging lovers like myself.

DelusionsBeta: In other news, the Doctor Who games are finally available in the World outside Her Majesty's Great Britain and Northern Ireland, via Direct2Drive (and only Direct2Drive, apparently). First two episodes in a bundle for the massive price of five bucks.

Thanks for that! Off to buy!

Why am I not surprised that Brad is whining again.
As for Doctor Who, D2D just discounted it to $3.75 (weekend only).
This is not the first time it happens, but I just realised it. Steam will remain the king of the field. Just one thing, Steam does not have any major/proper WEEKEND DEAL, so NONE of the other shops do either. If/when Steam does, then everybody else gets in line to do so.
I am not saying the other shops don't have some sales now, they all do, but none has a weekend deal as they do when Steam also has a weekend deal.
Funny.

Funny.

Asides from their Ubisoft and Paradox sales, GamersGate is running their usual weekend loyalty sale, so that's not entirely true.

I just noticed it, but that doesn't mean it is not accurate.
(currently considering buying HAWX and World War 1 Gold from GG)
Pretty sure Lead & Gold is their weekend deal... free to play this weekend and 50% off.

The deal is a part of the paradox sale so it's not technically a weekend deal. It's free to play over weekend but the discount should last a little longer.
One step closer to Mac (and Steamworks) domination...
The creator of Half-Life, Team Fortress and Portal has a plan to increase the number of Mac games that are available through its digital distribution service, Steam. Valve plans on giving away* "some" of its Mac-specific game code to developers.
*The only real catch here is that Valve will be helping out those game creators who also sign on for Steamworks integration, the company's social networking, matchmaking and dev tools software.
While we're talking about Steam, Worms Reloaded has (finally) appeared on Steam. While it's Steam-only for the moment, Team17's Twitter confirms that won't be the only place that you'll be able to get it in a few months time. It's unclear if they're referring to a Steamwork'd retail release or releasing it on another digital platform, but still.

It seems like a lot of Steam digital download exclusives come to retail about 3 months later (with Steam still attached). I wonder if they have some sort of contract stipulation about that, and I wonder what the motivation would be to do so.

You seem to be at the desktop? Try pressing the Windows key + Pause / Break key. If it allows the window to open, you should be able to restore your system to a previous restore point (left sidebar). Worth a try . . . =)
Edit: Also might try pressing Windows key + R, enter rstrui.exe. Should open sys restore directly.
