Yeah sadly the Games Tutor section is horrible. Half the time you help someone and they can't even take the 2 seconds to mark an issue solved.
As for those who clearly don't understand that Games Tutor is not actually GamersGate support, I tend to make it clear in the first response that they are talking to other customers and direct them to the support email address.

Agreed.

lowyhong: Anyway I just had a hilarious run-in with Steam support. Once again Valve shows why it has top of the line support by employing idiots who cannot read. I'm fine with tech support using Ctrl-C Ctrl-V if it's in the appropriate context , but people there need to learn how to read. It doesn't even take more than 15 seconds to read what I just posted, and I had to tell the guy twice to re-read my original post, re-phrasing my question again each time in hopes that he'll finally know what I'm talking about. Either he's too damn stupid, or lazy, or both.

I don't even bother with their support anymore. I basically submit a ticket, wait for them to completely miss the point and then contact a staff member via PM on the forums. It's the only way anything ever gets done these days.
Although I'm still waiting for them to finally fix the Square-Enix/Eidos publisher page. They seem really reluctant to bother doing that for us. It's like they really didn't want to sell the those games here.

Oh dear. Got ninja'd, as I'd edited out my post lol.
Anyway, yes. Agree with the above sentiment.
After hearing about Mafia 2 and Fallout: New Vegas using Steamworks despite being singleplayer games I started a thread on the Steam forums asking what the benefits of Steamworks are for singleplayer games. Most people just listed normal Steam benefits, but it was still a healthy discussion... until a mod closed it a day later.
I also started a thread on the new PCGamer.com forum about games as a service compared to games as a product, which started an intense debate where people seem not to understand my worries or concerns with Steam-type systems and the future of all online media.
So... I realized something at the end of the day with these two threads, my head in my hands.
You guys made me crazy!
Seriously, you can search my post history and see that I was a Steam defender a year or so ago. Reading alternate opinions on this site chief amongst others, and having a friend briefly lose his account, opened my eyes to the lack of control and consumer rights that Steam represents. It's all your fault! Now I am this weird bearded smelly mountain man who rants about the demons coming while the villagers point and laugh.
*sigh*
I forgive you all though, as you are still right.

Hahaha oh wow. The Steam forum mods are really moronic when it comes to debating stuff. I was of the opinion that debating was merely rational discussion of two differing ideas, back and forth.

Said mod has also moved your list of Steam games with 3rd party DRM to Off-topic. A clear sign they want to bury that information. Still, on the bright side, at least they didn't move it to Help and Tips which is where they usually hide topics they don't want people reading.
It was probably the same moderator that deleted the most recent thread on patch statuses too.

You have to admit, the Steam forums puts forth a very compelling argument against moderators on this forum.

Not really. It just shows that whoever selects moderators over there, is an idiot. But then, pretty much everything Valve does, gives *that* impression.

In a sane, rational world you'd be able to report that and see his mod status revoked. In fact I think that would warrant a ban from the forums altogether seeing as he plainly doesn't even begin to grasp their nature even after 20K posts.

is that happened before on Steam forums ?

lackoo1111: is that happened before on Steam forums ?

A mod being that dumb or getting removed for being that dumb? As far as I know they haven't been removed for being that stupid.
You'd think with comments like "Oh another weekly discussion about this" blah blah blah they might PIN~!@! lol one of those topics so people would see it before they just close it... Or I dunno instead of telling the guy to ask support ANSWER The damn question
sorry jacked up day :p
"Weekly "What Happens If" thread.
Several threads on this already.
You will be fine.
Several members have spoken on the issue. If you have futher questions feel free to contact support."
I mean seriously if this is A WEEKLY FREAKING THING!!! THEN WHY NOT pin the ANSWER lol and taking the word of some Mod who is UNPAID. You'd think he could use spell check as well... I mean it even said he edited it for typos...."Last edited by TrippleD: Today at 05:49 AM. Reason: typos "
I mean, then wtf is up with all the moved threads.... /sigh.... thanks for exposing me to steam boards, /facepalm

They wont pin an official reply because that would be legally binding in the event something happened to Valve and they did in fact have to close down Steam. For the moment the off hand remarks about all games being freed of the DRM in the event of the Valvepocalypse are enough to keep the majority happy without Valve actually having committed to anything.
