I was having problems with my Batman AA savegame so I contacted Eidos about it as there was no logical reason it shouldn't be working.
Please make sure that you are using the exact same Games for Windows LIVE profile as before as the saves are tied to the profile ID which creates them. Please note that saves made against an offline profile cannot be restored in this manner as the ID for offline profiles is randomly generated each time it is created.

So, simply put, GFWL fucks up your save games. Fucking marvellous! Like we needed another reason to hate that shit.

Gersen: Apple fanboy.... Steam fanboy... in the same forum... oh my god the horror...
Steam forum were already pretty "painful" before but now it must have become the eight circle of hell...

No kidding - those are some of the worst fanboys I know :p especially since I neither like Macs nor Steam. I'm surprised the universe hasn't imploded by mixing the two.

Probably Steam forums mods have to work very hard to maintain trolling and flaming in normal amount.

Actually you can backup/restore your save game even if they are linked to an offline profile, the catch is that you must backup your save game AND another file which contains your unique offline account ID.
There is a guide on 2k forum on how to do it.

My current address is a Hotel in Pattaya, why oh why would I change my billing address to Thailand when tomorrow I will be in another country?

Bought StarCraft 1 (with Brood War) for £5 yesterday. It came in a box with the 2 CDs (that's right, Blizzard didn't bother combining it onto 1 DVD, despite demanding both to be installed in the same install) stacked on top of each other, so the only way to get at the Brood War disc is to remove the StarCraft disc. Give me one of thouse flappy disc holders in a box (like the GameCube's multiple disc games) any day of the week. Hell, I'll take the Orange Box style of multidisc management (where one disc is in the usual spot, and the other is in a plastic sleeve in the manual holder). However, the less said about Rome: TW Anthology's box, the better (3 discs stacked on top of each other, it's bloody awkward to remove them and the disc checks demand the right disc is used to run each expansion. Sheesh).
Well I guess this is off topic, because it looks to me like Gamersgate now have decent download speeds. Let's hope this isn't a passing fad.

If you've seen a sudden increase in download speeds, they've either set up new servers in Europe, or you've been connecting to the US servers (which you probably shouldn't be).
I can remember when they finally switched my region over to the US servers, the speeds literally doubled. I still connect to the Europe ones from time to time though =/

I don't know what server I was connected to as the downloader is very light on features. But we're talking about a jump from 300kbps to 1.2mbps here. Given that 1.2 is the maximum I can expect out of this connection, it might well be even higher.
gah. Steam sales available at work, but not available at home!!
I don't think i'll ever get to try mass effect...

You know that you can buy from the website now right? You don't necessarily need the client to buy a game.

yeah. But i'm not keen on shopping from work.. for reasons of security, and other things.
Plus I doubt it'd actually work as my company seems to have blocked HTTPS connections, which I'd guess steam would use.
Can't log in to many things from there...
