No. Just /facepalm is not enough. This might be enough.

Raneman25: Steam actually doesn't have that much more "DRM" then GOG.

Oh, this really depends on the game. One might come with additional layers of DRM, with GOG you are sure the game has all DRM stripped off.
There's something great about having a standalone installer you can put anywhere and be sure it will work from anywhere, anytime.

Raneman25: "WTF I HAVE TO BE LOGGED INTO GOG TO DOWNLOAD THE GAMES I GOT WTF WTF WTF."

Just like STEAM.

Raneman25: Think about it, all Steam really does is require you to be logged in to get your games. Then you can go into offline mode if the servers go down or something.

If the servers go down and you decide to wipe out your HDD or just transfer the game to another PC, they will need to be authenticated against servers that don't exist anymore.
In short your games become unusable.
I like STEAM but I'm only willing to purchase anything from there if one title is heavely discounted or doesn't come with some retail DRM (like Securom).
I hate SEGA

Another game lost to Steam. : (

See, that would be the last thing I would look at in a game. Not "WTF IT USES STEAM I'M NOT BUYING IT" but more like holy shit, it uses The Art of War in its AI!

I don't see any of that.

Jesus christ ... I can see now where Valve get their fanboys from.
GOG is a SITE. You can log on in the middle of the Sahara if you had a laptop and an internet connection, it would work. You could download the game on ANY computer and play it there without needing any extra software AND install the games on different PCs and play on all of them at once. Heck, you could download the file on PC A and install it on PC B.
With Steam:
- you're region locked for quite a few games
- you need a constant internet connection to play games OR at least need an occasional connection when in Offline mode
- you can only play one game per account no matter how many PCs they're installed on
- you can't install any games without having an online connection
- all games need the Steam client
- Steam gives you a subscription to a game, not the actual license
etc. etc.
Think for more than a second and you might realise Steam is very draconian.
The said thing about that Shogun game is that despite being based on Japanese history, it won't be released in Japan by its Japanese publisher. U_U

Seriously now, why do publishers hate Japan so much?

The only thing I could guess at is huge paybacks from Sony, Nintendo and (to a lesser extent) Microsoft (Xbox division) to ensure that PCs don't fuck up their revenues in their vastly declining market. Wonder what they will do when this stupid behavior of theirs finally destroys the market once and for all. Guess it'll be a long long wait though =S

Oh, and I was there, thinking they were doing it for something reasonable. I'm just weird like that.

And since Steamworks has the option of region locking you might not be able to import it either. Isn't Steam wonderful for non-Americans?

Yup, but as long the region lock is on activation only, a quick use of a US based VPN sorts it out. It's annoying to set up, but it works. It just makes purchasing and using the game an unnecessary bloody pain in the arse.
You know what i fucking hate. every time i see a ad on the tv for that prince of persia moive they never i mean never say its base on a game.
