Yes, thanks Namur.
Couldn't find because it doesn't have any of the Activision/IW/CoD7 words.

Hehe, I think you were looking for the other thread about sucky things in life (can't be bothered to find the link, it 3:25AM and I haven't had anything with caffeine since this hour last night).

More of the good news, this time for WoW:
"Blizzard to levy extra subscription fee for buying and selling items through Web browser or Mobile Armory iPhone app."
I am really annoyed seeing all these people on forums today talking about repurchasing the original FEAR on Steam even though they own the boxed edition because "it's only $10 and so convenient!!!!"
YOU ALREADY OWN THE GAME DUMMY!
I mean seriously. They just paid $10 to add online-activation DRM to a game they already owned DRM-free. Way to go geniuses.
I mentioned this on my home forum and it was instantly said I am a "Steam hater" or whatever. This is true, yes, but come on, my point is completely valid. I got the same response when someone said they would not buy Fable 3 because they only buy games on Steam. As if buying from a store other than Steam would kill these people?
Someday PC gaming will be nothing but Steam and people will be sorry, I bet.
My retail copies of the FEAR and its expansions have a form of SecuROM on them. But I certainly wouldn't pay $9.99 to swap that for dependency on a client. Nope. I might buy the game on Steam if it's the subject of a $0.99 to $2 sale.
But then, these people must have money to throw away. The sad thing is, I bet most of them are the sort who would make someone's life hell because they spent the exact same amount on one of those Prima guides.
*sigh*

I don't count a disc-check as DRM, though I know technically you could call it that.

DRM, copy protection, looking up words in a manual, matching colors and shapes on a code wheel... it's all the same to me.
buying DRM to throw away DRM ?

Well one, disc check, will work underground after a nuclear explosion when I am the last man on earth, as long as I have a generator and computer. The other, Steam, will not work without internet, or Valve, or if I piss Valve off.
I would say there is significant difference there.
I get what you are saying, really I do, but I am concerned with playing games without a company telling me I can. A disc check does not factor into that at all.
