CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference live tomorrow at 5:00 PM GMT

People say it is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies. GOG.com has proven otherwise, and you knew it’s spring after eight daisies already: Legend of Grimrock, Treasure Adventure Game, Trine, The Whispered World, Machinarium, Wing Commander 4, Spacechem, and Darwinia. However, as many a sudden change takes place on a spring day, we’re about to reveal another four amazing daisies tomorrow during CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference.

The harvest of a whole year depends on what you sow in the springtime. And this year, oh boy, we’re into some serious sowing. During CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference we will:
* tell you what has changed on GOG.com in case you missed it
* offer a sneak peek at future GOG.com releases
* give you a special gift as a big, sweet “thank you” to our users

Remember that those who arrive to the spring first, drink the purest water-- or
Remember that spring won't come from one flower--we need plenty of you to watch the CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference!

mondo84: Nice try, though.

Pheace: And... you won't be lamenting that future then? :) That was my point ^^ Didn't mean to say it'd be your fault (as well)
Ugh, I just wrote something but hit cancel accidentally.

I understand what you mean. I thought you meant that if Steam takes over we'll all become irrational Steam snobs.

I'm already lamenting the fact that the industry is being driven by childish Steamheads who scoff at great products or deals because they aren't on Steam. The difference between me and them is that the Steamheads will be unwilling or unable to accept responsibility for their role in giving Steam way too much power and not supporting other respectable platforms.

Steam can close your account at any time without notice or reason. Maybe other companies can do that, too. But it still concerns me.

Steam is a great service but I wish people weren't so obsessed and stubborn. The "No Steam, no sale" crowd really needs to grow up.

MrAlphaNumeric: Many thanks for Fallout! I already own the collection on disc, but this will do nicely..
Same here, I could use a back up since my discs always seem to disappear or have seen better days.
Thank you GOG for this awesome game.

Dinasis: Agreed. Also, in addition to your quoted questions, the other one that gets me is when someone decries any and all forms of DRM, but then turns around and begs developers to include Steamworks in their titles.
Exactly. Go on the Steam forums and see how many people are surprised when you tell them Steam is DRM. It's sad.

Pemptus: The amount of entitlement coming from this thread is almost Steam forum-worthy. For shame.
avatar
mondo84: Spot on. I cringe every time I read a Steam-based thread and nothing but:

"Can it be activated on Steam?"
"Does it work on Steam?"
"Is it Steamworks?"
"No Steam, no sale."

One day all the Steamheads are going to start whining about how big and out of control Steam became. They'll ask, "How did this happen?" but probably won't look in the mirror or question their Steam entitlement, obsession, and irrational fanboy loyalty.

This is why I love GOG. It's the anti-Steam. No DRM. Free goodies for customers. GOG is the best distribution platform out there along with Amazon. I hope that GOG customers don't start taking this site for granted and whine about everything like Steamboys do.
Well said. I don't like to be dependable on some company server (or on an internet connection, for that matter) just to play a game I legally paid for. I don't like to be obliged to install a service I don't care or paid for.

Over here, it's more like: "Steamworks? No sale."
Have to say that i at least thought there may be some kind of discount being offered for witcher 2 seeing as that was what the conference was mainly about so a bit miffed by that and the free game offer of fallout, well i own that already so i feel a little put out, hopefully witcher will be offered sometime in the future as i see no reason to pay at the current full price,i feel a big opportunity has been missed.

RafaelLopez: Did they say what's the prize for people who already own Fallout 1? Just curious.
avatar
carlosjuero: The prize is the warm feeling knowing that we Fallout 1 fans shall soon have more converts to our cause? :)
Heh, I suppose my warm feeling of getting Fallout 1 for free is warmer than that.

I *am* part of that crowd actually ^^

Sales on other services don't do much for me unless I can add them to my Steam collection for convenience. And it's pretty much guaranteed to get a similar sale eventually so all it requires is some patience.
Gog games are different. I'm fine with getting those, although if it's cheaper on Steam it's very likely I'll be getting it there instead (like the upcoming D&D Master edition), unless there's some particular problem with OS compatibility. Goodies don't do anything for me, and since my digital buying behavior's main interest is having the game 'downloadable' at any time, DRM-free isn't of particular interest in my buying decision either.

So yeah, I'm part of the problem . But I'm easygoing enough to go with the flow on whatever future horror scenario's might unfold ^^

I think they already reduced the price, USD10 to be exact compared to the day i bought it last year. And also, they did offer some discount for limited time during the same day Enhanced Edition was announced early this year. Or if we go back last year, i think they did offer 40% off plus free The Witcher 1. I think they will be more discount this year.
Is the comic restricted to Apple platform?

Sounds DRM-ish. XD

Then may God have mercy on your soul. ;)

You have the right to make whatever purchases from wherever. I would never want to take away that freedom of choice. But I think a little flexibility on behalf of the Steam-preferred will go a long way towards a better, more fair, more balanced gaming future.

wormholewizards: Wait, how did you know?? You're truly a seasoned veteran.
Yeah, it happens every time.
It's quite disgusting. There was one announcement about this conference, right? This thread. People started to get hyped more and more and now they are complaining there was too much hype and not enough "reward".

They promised some news, there were news (new pricepoints, new games, new pre-orders). They promised legendary RPG for free, there is legendary RPG for free.
They promised new about Witcher, there were news about Witcher and back-up copy on GOG on top of that.

Sure, it is disappointment after all that hype... I see it now. :-/
So I just came home after 6 days in the wilds and I can't be arsed to read through so many posts.

I see Fallout 1 is free, nice, hadn't bought it, but what's this thing about W2?
low rated
The downward spiral continues.

$19.99 price point, and free offers catering exclusively to new customers.

I suspect GOG stock is being built up to be flipped within 18 months.

kurcatovium: It's good to see new games, but well... I don't like your move with Fallout. I bought it some time ago and now i feel like riped off. Those are strong words, but why should new users have advantage over us, old timers, who supported gog.com for quite some time? Does this really sound fair to you?
avatar
azah_lemur: Consider this, no matter which game they would give away there would be someone who says "but I already have it, not fair". Or there would be people who expected something else. Consider other great RPGs: baldur's gate, icewind dale, planescape torment...people would say the same thing you're writing now if they gave any of those.
Wise idea would be to gift newly added game to users. Wouldn't it? I was hoping for Albion when i was looking at conference... Well, no miracles today.
