Navagon: Never has a mascot been so utterly abused by both the company it fronts and its own fans as Sonic has. That poor blue bastard.

Delixe: *cough* Mario.
Not really. Sonic was abused because they used him to make a great nunber of poor quality titles. Did you ever played games like chaotix? Horrible.

While it's a great many years since I played it I don't remember Sonic in Chaotix, that was Knuckles' game wasn't it? I still maintain that through sheer volume Mario has been in more crap than Sonic has. Remember the CD-i 'games'?

Don´t think so. Sonic have few really good games, Sonic 1, 2 and 3, maybe sonic 3d Blast, and the two Sonic Adventure games for Dreamcast. The CD-i games were bad, but I think they were not developed by Nintendo.

Roman5: Amy is 13 btw
As I remember it, at the time of Sonic CD she was ten and Sonic was fifteen. When Sonic Adventure came around and Amy was reintroduced her age was flashed forward to the same as Sonic.
For those that live in the UK: you can attend the "Summer of Sonic" event soon

http://www.vg247.com/2011/06/14/psa-summer-of-sonic-takes-place-on-june-25-in-london/

I would actually attend it myself but unfortunately, I am busy with work

I also picked up the Special Edition of "Gamesmaster" today which is dedicated entirely to the 20th anniversary, I usually don't buy Magazines but damn it's nice - details on every sonic game, art, loads of extra stuff, I really reccomend you check it out

This is true. However at least Mario's main series was never crapped on with games like Sonic Unleashed.

Colors was awesome and Generations is looking good so Sonic doesn't seem so dead to me this year.
The problem is and always is Sega rushing the games and not polishing them up. Sonic 2006 was the pinnacle of all this. That´s why most of the times people gets excited with every new game, just to feel cheated again after playing it. Unleashed was better (although the werehog, chip, etc was horrible), and I haven´t played Colours, but Generations looks better than everything Sonic related on the last decade.

Personally, the good games are the Mega Drive/Genesis ones, Sonic CD, Sonic R, some of the Master System/Game Gear games, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and maybe Sonic Advance. The rest are just meh, and there´s too many that are plain bad. I have played nearly every game from the Sonic franchise and I have replayed them tons of times if they weren´t awful, so I´m pretty confident saying this. Anyway, the only game I didn´t finish at all was Sonic 2006. That´s the best example on how not to do a game. And Sonic 4 was really a letdown in gameplay.

I really wish Sega starts making good Sonic games again, but I don´t get my hopes up. Generations looks wonderful, but I won´t be excited until I play it and I feel it´s good. I´m tired of the Sonic cycle that started after the whole Sammy thing.

from what I have heard and understand: SEGA is trying to turn around the "reputation" of sonic around and start producing quality titles again

Colours was a nice start so we will see how it goes in the future, as a fan of Sonic, I can only hope that the quality of games will improve over time
So what do you guys think about the new Sonic generations trailers?

I just found out about Generations a few days ago.

I'm really looking forward to it. I saw an LP for Colours, and it looks like they took that engine and shined it up for this.

A twenty dollar price point on PC will help too, atleast that's what D2D lists right now.
