KMetalMind: The problem is and always is Sega rushing the games and not polishing them up. Sonic 2006 was the pinnacle of all this. That´s why most of the times people gets excited with every new game, just to feel cheated again after playing it. Unleashed was better (although the werehog, chip, etc was horrible), and I haven´t played Colours, but Generations looks better than everything Sonic related on the last decade.
Personally, the good games are the Mega Drive/Genesis ones, Sonic CD, Sonic R, some of the Master System/Game Gear games, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and maybe Sonic Advance. The rest are just meh, and there´s too many that are plain bad. I have played nearly every game from the Sonic franchise and I have replayed them tons of times if they weren´t awful, so I´m pretty confident saying this. Anyway, the only game I didn´t finish at all was Sonic 2006. That´s the best example on how not to do a game. And Sonic 4 was really a letdown in gameplay.
I really wish Sega starts making good Sonic games again, but I don´t get my hopes up. Generations looks wonderful, but I won´t be excited until I play it and I feel it´s good. I´m tired of the Sonic cycle that started after the whole Sammy thing.
from what I have heard and understand: SEGA is trying to turn around the "reputation" of sonic around and start producing quality titles again
Colours was a nice start so we will see how it goes in the future, as a fan of Sonic, I can only hope that the quality of games will improve over time
