Metro09: Not that I entirely support the United States' role as 'world police' but, quite frankly, if it weren't for their interventionist policies you (or quite probably your parents) might have been ethnically cleansed back in the 90's.
americans didnt start or ended this war.all they did is ''approved'' croatian operation, which they carried out themselves in-watch this..2 days.ocupation lasted for 4 years!ethnically cleansed my ass.yugoslavia was 3rd military power in that time in europe but as soldiers they sucked ass (sorry for inapropriate language or bad english)

nmillar: I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with you, but this is exactly the reason why I refuse to celebrate the death of Bin Laden. Many are claiming that his death is retribution for 9/11, but 9/11 was in fact retribution for the thousands of Iraqi innocents killed by the US Army. Retribution is wrong; both sides are as bad as each other.
What's the rough timeline on this? When did those thousands of Iraqi civilian deaths, at the hands of the US Army, occur?

Well Bin Laden is that but I hate it when Obama says the world is a save and better place now. I mean for every insect you kill you get 10 in return it's that simpel don't think that Osama dead is gonna stop terrorisme.

Of course terrorism isn't stopped and Obama never said otherwise. He only said that the world is a bit safer and I can understand why. After living 10 years in a "War on Terror" the person responsible for it finally bit the dust. Maybe I'm just an hopeless optimist, but it feels like America will stop living in fear of it's shadow. Maybe it's the beginning of the end for the "War on Terror".

I mean even Europe is relieved at the news.

Heh - I thought so. Your claim arises from numbers derived AFTER the attacks of 9/11. Making this specific claim assumes bin Laden had the ability of time travel.
What's up with all these stupid gimmick accounts? I hate to break it to you, but you are not funny...

Do not underestimate me, foul american. Your occidental mindset clouds the rays that shine down upon you.

What about the Gulf War? I'm pretty sure that somebody died in that one >.>

This is completely wrong. Al Qaeda did not destroy the World Trade Center in retaliation for the second Gulf War. The Second Gulf War started in March of 2003. Further, Saddam Hussein's regime and Al Qaeda were not allies at all. Hussein was a secular dictator who patterned himself after Joseph Stalin and repressed the extremist element in his country because it was dangerous to him. And of those civilians who have died, a great number of them were killed in suicide bombings on markets, from IEDs, and during battles with insurgents. Going into Iraq was unjustified and wrong headed, but the lives lost are not all the fault of America. Think about the kind of people and the ideology you're putting on a pedestal when you step out to defend Al Qaeda.

I have not defended anyone; I have stated numerous times here and elsewhere that both sides are in the wrong; the killing of innocents can never be justified.

These are just the numbers from the Third Gulf War. The first two were before 9/11. The UK / US weren't involved in the first one though!

Corrected? Oh. You're from the UK. I guess you're referring to the Anglo-Iraqi War in the '40s. The current war is generally considered the second one here as the one you're referring to wasn't ours and the Anglo-Iraqi one happened 70 years ago.

Does the Mexican-American War count as a "Gulf" war? It took place over two Gulfs. Besides the obvious, the other is the Gulf of California, which isn't lauded in stage and song as much.

Anyway, remember all those phony Nostrodamian quatrains that started floating around after 9/11? "The Two Brothers will fall" and all that shit? Where are all those guys now? Surely they have something for this. Something like "The second of two fallen kings" or some such nonsense (the other being Hussein).

The First Persian Gulf War lasted from 1980 to 1988 and pitted Iraq against Iran (I already stated the UK and US were not involved in this one). The Second Persian Gulf War began in 1990 with Iraq's invasion and occupation of Kuwait and ended in 1991 with a Coalition of nations under United Nations authority and led by the United States which forcibly ejected the Iraqi military from Kuwait.
