Well I liked some of the previous City interactive games, including Sniper Art of Victory, so I'll probably enjoy this one. The problem though is the price. It's a fair bit more compared to others so I'll probably skip it for now. Incidentally, it releases on Jun 24th on GamersGate and June 25th on Steam.

planned price for the localized retail version $21.51
First of all I didn't expect this game will be good before playing the demo because of the other City Interactive titles but after playing the demo I keep my on this game. Demo is really good and sniping is so much fun especially bullet camera after the shooting. Demo has some bugs and annoying issues but I hope they will fix them for the release. Graphics are also nice. Game is like FarCry 1 without the monsters and I like it.
Demo isn't bad. But doesn't seem too playtested in some places. Some terrain is difficult to sneak through, for no obvious reason. Meaning you have to jump about a bit to go forward. Often alerting guards as a result. That's true of areas that are pretty much the only paths forward too. Even a problem on steps.
Another issue was up in the tower sniping two snipers. The first was easy. The second couldn't even be seen without jumping up on the wall. Which earns you a bullet. In the end I gave up as it seemed too poorly playtested to be enjoyable.
Well, of course it was poorly playtested. The "demo" is a leak of some form. It popped up on Release sites a few days ago, and has now been mirrored by reputable sites.

Well that certainly explains it. Hopefully those things will be fixed before its release then. A bit more work could make all the difference.
Well, having seen a gameplay video, they've plainly fixed the problems I was having with it.

Looks like City Interactive have been royally trolled by Destructoid on Sniper's Steam page.
The great thing about Sniper: Ghost Warrior is that the “vision cone” of the game is insanely huge, so even though you might be hundreds of feet away from an enemy, they are more than capable of seeing you through a crack in a fence, or from across a canyon. It's a weird little element of the game that I found to be very impressive, something that was oddly realistic.

When will people realise that Destructoid is the Wayne's World of the internet age?

I realized it long ago. It's what happens when teenagers are allowed to have their own website. Regardless of what their ages are, they haven't matured beyond that point. But yeah, worse is that people keep reading them. I guess it's by trolls, for trolls. :P Oh well, let them stay there and away from me.

The problem isn't so much that they're allowed their own site, but more that people keep on taking it seriously. "Oh look, Destructoid is saying that Heavy Rain is worse than a laughably bad Twilight Zone wannabe game. Let's all go and rage about it".
Then there's City Interactive with their clear inability to grasp irony.

At least give us actual link descriptions for crying out loud... I have no clue whatsoever what are half the links you throw around and I really can't think of a reasonable explanation as to why couldn't you write at least 3 word descriptions. Or just copy/paste headline of whatever article you're linking to.

I've seen a review that actually praised the game very much, and, according to it's contents, I would probably even enjoy it. Shame my computer can't really run it: It looks like one of those budget-y games that are pretty damn worth it.
Have any of you guys actually played it?

I played the demo. Most of it was about sniping and it was good enough at that. Some of it was trying to be Modern Warfare / Bad Company and it while it wasn't too shabby at that, it did feel very out of place given the nature of the title.
When Modern Warfare came out a lot of people were saying (me included) how it would be great if someone took the sniping level and made a whole game like that. It's as if City Interactive took that idea and ran with it.
The thing that annoyed me about it was how you sometimes couldn't simply walk over terrain that was flat enough for you to do so. Necessitating jumping. Which isn't good when you're trying to be all stealthy. Even less so when it's happening on the one single required path you have to follow. So it's definitely not problem free.
Other than that I didn't notice any of the problems reviewers had with it. Which leads me to believe they just tried the console version and copy pasted the review over (like they usually do) not bothering to check to see if it's any different.

I am not up on the whole "Destructoid bad" crap (mainly because I generally read multiple reviews and base crap off of the rationale behind what they say, and not just the scores), but I don't really see what is wrong with that one.
In a lot of games, the AI is horribly gimped. They can only see five feet in front of them and can't see through shrubs or cracks in a fence. Admittedly, that is done because real stealth sucks (nobody wants to crawl for five miles...), but this is the kind of game that is trying to simulate that.

A friend of mine who bought the game also says they are incredibly accurate even with automatic weapons despite being a long way away.
