Good to see GOG's still getting some free press over putting BASS (and other free games) on the site.

well every little helps
Here's hoping GOG will release more free games. Not necessarily for my sake, but they're great ways to get people to sign up. After all, that's actually what got me started.
I added them to my account so I could test how the whole process works and voila, now I'm hooked. :)

Well, there's plenty to choose from:
Wikipedia's list of commercial video games released as freeware
Liberated games
seriously, I bet you if they got JFK reloaded, man they'd be rocking the house.

I mentioned something similar to support and they pointed out that while it's free to download, often there are distribution restrictions in place.
That was something I didn't think of. Perhaps the rights holders would be ok with that though, as it would bring them more attention.

Petrell: Liberated games

I'd be more careful with that link if I were you, as a lot of the games in there aren't exactly "liberated" yet
-edit-
Sorry I just realised that by "liberated", it doesn't mean "freely downloadable games". My bad my bad!!!!! >.<

The wikipedia list I linked does mention at least some of the restrictions but what ever the case GOG should always ask permission just to be on the safe side.

No problem. Liberated games lists both games released as freeware and games that has had it's source code released (with or without media) so some of the games still need original game to play. It also lists licence they are released under.

Yeah, I agree. I actually was commenting on how they would likely accept an offer (should GOG staff make one) from GOG to distribute some of them.
