(Because "Layer Tennis" is taken, and this idea is spun off from that.)
Now then, I have yet another idea for a contest, this time you'll be working in teams of two (which means we'll need an even number of participants, or I'll have to disappoint one by random disqualification).
This thread is (as the title suggests) mainly intended for signups, but I won't try to stop general discussion and feedback regarding the contest (especially considering . I'd ask you to try staying to the subject (the contest) rather than wandering off-topic though.
I'll choose the teams randomly, each team gets to choose their internal order.
Unlike Layer Tennis, you'll have more time (15 minutes per turn isn't quite enough with this community, I believe), there will be fewer turns, I won't commit myself to commenting the entries (live or otherwise), you're not limited to a specific image size (as long as the file is small enough to be sent by e-mail), you won't get any layers from the previous turn (just a merged image), and you compete as a team rather than against each other in a series of volleys.
What's Layer Tennis?
Go to the site linked in the first few words of this post, it'll give you a better idea than I can.
What's the assignment?
The one of each team who gets assigned the first turn will create an image, in any way they wish (pen/pencil/brush and paper, Photoshop/GIMP/Paint.net, Blender/Maya, photography, combination of all above... anything), this image will then be edited (modified, destroyed, remade, or even something new with just the same theme... you decide, as long as there's some sort of thread showing the inheritance from the earlier turns) - in turns - by both team members, until the team has created a total of 6 images (three turns each).
Use images from around the 'net in your composition if you wish, but please, don't use them as your reply for that turn.
Simple explanation:
Person 1 makes an image during 1 week, then sends it to me.
I send image to Person 2.
Person 2 works on image during 1 week (or makes another, relating to the first), then sends that to me.
I send image back to Person 1.
Person 1 works on the image (like Person 2 just did), then sends it to me.
...continue until I have 6 images from the team and make a voting thread.
(This will be repeated, in greater detail, when the teams get assigned.)
What's the scoring?
Scores will be given through community voting, I won't cludge up this post with the voting rules, but will instead post them in a voting thread when that time comes. They'll be derived from my earlier contests however, so if you remember them you know roughly what to expect.
What's the prize??
Aside for a few minutes of GOG forum fame?
How about up to $20 worth of GOGs for both members of the winning team (2 $10 GOGs each, or 4 $10 GOGs at a 50%-off promo, or 3 $6 GOGs, or... well, calculate the other possibilities yourself given GOG's more recent price points) and up to $12 worth for the second place team members (similarly accounted for promos).
(This will be repeated in the voting thread when the final score has been counted)
What's the timeframe?
I'm thinking one week per turn, which makes the competition itself 6 weeks long, then some time for voting. Possibly two weeks per turn, if the general opinion seems to be that one week is too short.
Signups last for one week from this post, until May 26.
