Taleroth: You won't get anything, but those of us who have accounts will. Two games and a month of PSN+.
Exactly. As I said, no compensation for the downtime, just for the security breach.

Tulivu: I've said it before, but I'll say it again: They'll have to due better than offering free services that I wouldn't pay for in the first place

Aliasalpha: Americans are also getting a year of online fraud protection. Presumably you'll have to give all your personal information to strangers but hey one lot already have it...
Thanks to the military my SSN has been passed around like a midget hooker already. I just moniter my CC's and credit score regularly. BTW sorry about the Hitler comment ;)
Unless of course you happen to be cyberHitler, my old nemesis.

Except not everyone had their data compromised. They're only going to compensate people who can prove they were effected.

You had no account, so there is no proof.

I have a receipt proving exactly when I bought it, so yes, there is proof.

Not that it matters to me. I don't actually want any compensation. I wasn't complaining, just making a point.

Then send it in to them.

Actually, all 77 million PSN and Qriocity members had their info stolen. There is nothing for anyone to "prove", Sony already admitted to it. Everyone who was already registered for PSN at the time of the breach is getting free stuff, which means Wishbone is out of luck.
Kazuo Hirai: PlayStation Network Restoration Announcement

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/kazuo-hirai-playstation-network-relaunch-announcement/
Downloading the system update right now, looks like they only restored online play at the moment.

EDIT - Well that was anti-climatic. I got the update and installed it, but I still can't login to PSN or change my password. All I get is the same "Playstation Network is currently undergoing maintenance" message I've been getting for the past month.

They must be waiting for enough people to get the firmware update before turning on the servers.

That really shouldn't matter, since you can't even access the servers without first getting the firmware update anyway. On the PSN blog they do have a handy map showing which states are currently up and running, unfortunately, it looks like none of them are right now.
I will be playing some Comic Jumper on Live *evil laugh*.

Okay, sorry, couldn't resist:)

I don't have to pay money to Microsoft to play online. *evil laugh*
Ha! Now the PSN blog is down, "500 Internal Server Error".

EDIT - And now it's back. Looks like they are restarting services in the US going East to West. From New England southwest through New York and New Jersey is back up.

EDIT 2 - And now its down again (the blog, that is). Wonder if that threatened "third hack" is finally happening.

Nah, I think they are doing it by service areas... California is up now. I bet CA and New England are their two biggest markets in the U.S., or something.
