Denezan: And surprise surprise it is Steam only.

StingingVelvet: A six month old surprise.
It was a surprise for me. I do not keep up on everything that is going on. I only just found out about this by checking gamespot a few days ago. Apologies for not being in the know about everything going on in the world game related. And if you mention the royal baby I will find you and KILL YOU!!!!! :P

AFnord: To my knowledge, there is no cinematics.

Anyway, if you have any questions about the setting, feel free to ask. I'm a pen & paper veteran, in fact Shadowrun is the pen & paper RPG that I've GMd the most, and while I'm not quite up to date with all the latest and greatest things in the game (the vast majority of my SR experience comes from 3rd edition), I'll at least be able to fill you in on the basics.
Interestingly (or not) enough I have the most experience in the second and fourth editions, although I do have several of the third edition books as well. Shouldn't be hard to find material though, I think BKK has a lot of stuff including a timeline that explains the history of the world.

Crosmando: Nothing at all? You should have received something. I received my key a while ago. You can make an account here: https://account.harebrained-schemes.com if you haven't already

mistermumbles: Hm. Well, I already went through my e-mail trash bin in case I accidentally deleted said e-mail, but it doesn't look like I ever received a key since they said they were going to send them out 'shortly'. =/

Edit:
WHOOPS! Looks like I actually already had an account on their site - don't even remember doing that. Anyway, I was able to get my Steam key simply by logging in and looking at my account info...

And I looked at the DRM-free downloads: a limit of 10 downloads? Really? What's even more bizarre they have download limits on the wallpapers, too. WTF?!? Oh well, I'll be registering my Steam key and that'll be that, but I still think this is fucked up.
I got a download limit of 5 on my extras.

You don't have to know all and everything. But the 2013/04/10 / 2013/04/13 in your links should have given away a bit about how "news" that is....

PS: what? You missed the news about the royal baby too? Don't worry, I have all the relevant information about it for you, even if I had to look waaaay back on page 5 for it.
No, you don't have to thank me - consider it a gog service.

:D

I personally don't have a problem with this, but I might use digital stores differently than many people do. I don't mind a one-time download that much either but it should be a few more in case of mistakes. I just care if the files have an install limit that makes me dependent on an outside source or something to that effect once I receive them, which I despise. When I download, it usually gets copied to at least three different hard drives/flash drives/etc. immediately. I don't think I've ever downloaded a single one of my 100+ gog.com purchases more than twice, maybe three times, most only once. So to someone like me, 10 seems like a lot. YMMV

On the other hand, an error caused me to waste 4 downloads of 1 wallpaper.
Some words about crappy save system, can someone enlighten me how it works? I haven't bought the game so it might change later as I'll wait for a Steam sale but I'm still curious.

Basicly you can't save when you want. The game has an autosave system that saves before each level and that's about it. Hopefully the modding community will work something out or maybe even the devs can implement a "standard" saving system.

I'll definitely wait for that, thanks.

How's the difficulty?

But from what I've read you can load any of the saves and if you play multiple times you can still access the saves from previous plays. So at least it's not a system where you're stuck with the last auto save.
This game is linear as fuck.

Yep, at first I thought it was going to be like ToEE with opening vignettes and your first mission, and then the world would open up after the Morgue, but it seems to be just interconnected maps (mini-hubs I guess). Though they never claimed the game would be open-world or anything.

I can't really tell from what I've played so far, but I'd say it's not really that difficult even though the turn based combat really reminds me of games like XCOM EU and Omerta because it uses the same cover system.

I was not aware of that, thanks for letting me know.

I didn't expect open world but I thought I could at least go back upstairs after I get the quest item from upstairs. I can't though, nor can I go back outside after I enter the bar unless the story wants me to. It's pretty ridiculous and a huge black mark on the game so far.

Maybe that aspect gets better.
Hopefully that'll be something that can be worked around in user campaigns, at the very least. Overall I still want to get this soon. I could really go for a non-fantasy RPG, and even with the markings of a budget title it does seem pretty good.
