What a shame :(
Are you saying there will be no patching for the backer only drm free ?

Apparently, the DRM-free version will be patched once, the patch will contain the Berlin DLC too, I suppose they think they'll have all the bugs nailed down by the time they finish that DLC?

Now to wait for the full version 75% off obligatory discount. So maybe I'll play it by Christmas I guess.

I think the whole DRM thing and license with MS might have taken it's toll on the devs though, the last interview Mitch did indicated that their next Kickstarter might be a new IP, which sucks because Shadowrun is an awesome setting, I guess they probably aren't very comfortable working on an IP they don't own.

Thanks for the review links. In particular the Polygon link led me to a review for Deus Ex: The Fall, and it looks like this turned out to be a pretty good game. I will probably pick it up when it appears on Android. I'm also still waiting for the Android version of Shadowrun Returns, which unfortunately has been postponed.

DRM free only for Backers and crippled even...
A save system from yesteryear...
Speaking of which...it sounds that this save system stretches the playtime for a short game.
Imaing you spend 15 minutes on speaking to NPCs upgrading/buying stuff and make decisions..then you go on a mission and you die...you have to repeat all those steps again. And when you die again? Repeat again? i wouldn't bother anymore...and i would just click my way to the last state(but since i died with different choices).
This is no permadeath roguelike like nethack or angband( or even Routine when ever that comes out)..the gameplay is completly different and such a save system will prevent the potential fun i will have with this game.
Imaging Baldurs Gate or Planescape Torment would have such a save system...almost every second is full of decisions and choices..to imaging to repeat even the last 5 minutes of those games again.
I think i pass...

Well, I'm still going to give it a chance, because well we haven't got a party-based turn-based RPG of reasonable budget since Temple of Elemental Evil (if you don't count Vogel's games)
After the license fee from MS, physical backer rewards and KS/Amazon fees the devs only had 1.2 million dollars (by their own admission) to make an RPG in 15 months, so expecting the world might be a little too much
