Amazing, 3 times in a row I miss 99% chance to hit, and then the last enemy (having about 3 HP) on the field drops my leader with a crit, who naturally never seems to fall unconscious so I could revive him! And now I'm reverted back to the start and need to do all the dialogue for the third time, I can't believe how much fun I'm having! Is there an invulnerability cheat?

Or a plan to include actual saving system that doesn't annoy the hell out of me?

All in all it's what I was hoping for. But really, the problems with it are so obvious and intrinsic that I really hope they do something about most of them. Even the checkpoint saves wouldn't be so bad if the game wasn't so ludicrous in other areas at times. If they can get the fundamentals right then the community can take care of the rest.
Yeah, that's one of the biggest problems right there. Accuracy (and how inaccurately it's represented by the numbers you're given) reminds me of the old X-Com games before Enemy Unknown came along and made everything so much better across the board.

You know what was one of the first of this baby's hard games? Fallout. You know what it had? Proper save system. Bloody 15 years ago. Nevermind tho, I got trough that bit already. I just hate going trough all the dialogue again and again and again

Was Fallout primarily aimed at tablet PCs? Because Shadowrun is. And entire gameplay is balanced for this autosave system.

If I could save anytime, I would rush through most battles and the game would be even shorter than it already is.

C'mon, even I finished this game without much trouble. If one crit kills you bro, eat more vegetables.

I agree with the missing shots part though. I missed many times on point-blank range even though my character were really well trained in shooting that particular weapon.

I can really remember only one situation when there wasn't a save pretty much before the combat, it was on cemetery. But at that point I was pretty much able to plow through my enemies with ease.

And yeah, that's engine's fault. Levels in the game are pretty small, so there is an autosave at the begining of every level. But if there's a lot of talking in between, there is no way to save the game unless it was made a new level, which would require loading.

There could be some checkpoints after each battle / conversation and the engine really is lacking on that part. At least at this moment.

That's because DRM-free backers are inherently clone-able, and therefore prevented by law from voting in the elections. I don't see this changing any time soon, and DRM-free people will just have to get anti-cloning implants like the rest of us if they want to get full legal rights.

To be honest, I don't think I'll be buying this game unless it goes DRM free completely and legally (so probably never, or not for a long time). I was pretty excited because I've never been able to delve into the Shadowrun world before and they didn't have any updated decent looking games for quite some time.

Kickstarter projects need to really bend over backwards for their backers and give them full credit and support, but they should also respect the wants and needs of a wide audience, whether it's a minority or a majority. I believe they found a publisher AFTER the kickstarter. They didn't actually promise DRM free beforehand during the kickstarter run, but they weren't clear on it either. I don't pledge on a project that's never 100% clear and honest about it's DRM policies. While I didn't pledge on this and thus don't really have a say (though not sure if it would've mattered), it's not right for them to just instigate DRM, but then I guess the publisher is to blame because they put in the DRM in the final version.

But since they got over a million bucks, why couldn't they publish it DRM free like Obsidian or inXile?

Microsoft owns the Shadowrun licence and simply said no - end of story.

Well they DID promise a DRM-free version and "apparently" it is Microsoft, the license owner, that forces them to use DRM (except for the backers version, for a limited time).... of course the real question is : why did they do a Kickstarter in the first place if they didn't had the license and didn't knew which conditions would be attached to it.

Personally that's the reason why I blame them for the DRM and not Microsoft; if you are going to ask peoples money to make a game, make sure you have the rights to do so "before" asking money, not some months after.

I realized all this. Just would-be fan rants about dreams of no DRM coming from me.
