Close to buying. Hows the mods coming out?

Promising! I haven't played any yet (waiting 'till I finish the main campaign), but there's already a couple of modules and a bunch of modder resources. Check the link I posted above to see some of the things people are working out how to do with the toolset as well.

And I do have to say that I think the built-in campaign is being unfairly maligned. Basically look at StingingVelvet's opinion because he's right. It's not Baldur's Gate. It's a mission-based team strategy game with roleplaying and good writing.

I've started putting down my own ideas for short modules as well, so I can jump right into the editor when I finish the campaign.

I'm afraid I might be almost at the end of the campaign already. Is there anything noteworthy in the modding scene available? That remake of the SNES Shadowrun seems to be in alpha, do you think it's worth playing it now? I don't really know what to expect from it since I never played that one.

I've been curious about what people might include in the game aside from what's already available, like if it's possible for people to create their own in game objects or character portraits, assuming they have the artistic skill.

I hear A Lost Lamb is good, but short. According to StingingVelvet Life On A Limb is a bit meh, but might be worth playing to see an attempt at a more open-world style. Don't know about SNES, but I subscribed to it so I'll let you know. There's a few others I don't know much about but also subscribed to. Everything so far is of course pretty short.

You can definitely add objects, as there's a handful already in the Workshop. I'm pretty sure you can add portraits as well. You can't currently add new items and item appearances (but you can change the stats and such), but apparently that'll be updated in by HBS along with some other editor-focused stuff.

EDIT: Hmmm. Anyone know if it's possible to import variables along with characters between missions? 'cause with my mission ideas I was thinking of doing a series, and it'd be awesome to allow some of your choices to carry through multiple modules. I suppose at the very least you could have a questionnaire at the beginning of every mission, but that's kind of an awkward solution.

I don't think many people are paying attention to this topic right about now, but I think it's worth pointing out that, although it is true that you cannot save whenever you want and that is a problem, you are not at the mercy of quicksaves.

You can at any point go under Load Game and copy your current save, and that save won't be overwritten by the next quicksave. Maybe that was obvious to everyone else, but I was afraid I could end up in a bad spot, impossible to get out with a poorly thought out party, and basically have to restart the game.

Luckily I noticed this when I was about to go in a dangerous run and was able to make this backup in case things go sour.
Finished the main campaign and started checking out the editor. Seems pretty cool, definitely gonna be experimenting with it. I like how easy to use the conversations editor is. More so than the one for Conquistador, which was already surprisingly intuitive for an in-house tool.
*waiting to get his copy of the game*. Should i play it on hard or very hard to get the best enjoyment out of it?.

I don't think there's much of a difference, tbh. From what someone on Steam said, on Normal enemies get -2 to all stats, on Very Hard their stats aren't penalized. No difficulty level actually gives the enemy a real advantage, apparently.

Unfortunately it's always quite easy for veterans.
Welp, just did the opening (entirely dialog-based) dream sequence for my first planned module. I forgot how fun writing giant dialog trees is (this one isn't very big, but you get my point). :D

I find it normal on very hard. And at times, the enemy spends all their AP to walk in front of me to get their ass fragged on my next turn. :)

The quicksave is not just a single quicksave, it contains all the separate saves it did upto where we are in the game, and doesnt overwrite itself, it simply adds the next save point in the story. The option rewind lets you select to wich previous save you want to revert, altough it erases the saves made after the selected point, wich is why it advices to make a copy during the rewind process.

So even if mistakes are made during a run, its relatively easy to select rewind and revert to the spot where we can make changes to prevent them.
The checkpoint save is grating on me now...

I think I've missed stuff by being auto-teleported away from a location because I accessed the "story" possibility first. (Ie talked to some guy before checking out a computer, foolishly thinking I could do the other afterwards.)
The save system isn't as irritating as the goddamn "turn-based until death" combat. My kingdom for a fucking "End Battle" button...

So rewind like darkangelz describes.
