Fictionvision: I was thinking before that I'll get it on Android if anywhere and seeing the impressions in this thread I'll stick with that. I was never much of an XCom fan, so waiting for it to hit a dirt cheap price to play on my tablet will be the way to go for me.
If you don't like XCOM I just wouldn't play this period.
While this game might be a tactical strategy game more than an RPG I still like it a lot. The writing, tone and world are perfectly constructed. The narrative is a little too heavy perhaps, the side missions which are shorter and more simple tend to be my favorites, but it's still well done.

My favorite part is hacking into the matrix while my team protects me. It really makes you feel like a shadowrunner in this world to flip back and forth from an avatar in the matrix attacking nodes and firewalls to your team protecting you in an office building against swarming corporate security.

The first big mod campaign is already out, made by a backer with super early access. It's supposedly more RPG-like so I can't wait to try it out.

I might write for this myself, if anyone wants to team up.

I'd love to, as I want to do more game writing. I don't own the game yet, though. Really want to, just don't have any monays at the moment. But yeah, if you do want to do something, contact me! I have (a minuscule amount of) experience! :D

I'll finish the main campaign and then the big mod one that's out and then probably start playing with the editor. If I want to do something big I'll probably make a thread about it looking for help.
Releasing a game as a toolset is obviously kind of a risk, but I have to say that I'm impressed with how many modders have already started going to town.

Well it's very much in the Neverwinter Nights style, it was made for modding.
How many hours do people get out of the main campaign?

I heard it's around 6-8 hours.

Yeah, I know, but I can just imagine releasing something like this and it just kinda failing to gather enough interest. I suppose that's a big advantage to Kickstarter, actually. The game comes with a built-in devoted cult following, who're generally the ones to make awesome mods.

I play on Hard (12 hours +) and im done 3/4 of game content? (im after epic battle on cementary versus corporation commando and ghuls). Very good old school mix of tactical strategy and rpg game with good story.

I got that from a review that said tried to do all the objectives. Maybe they played on an easier difficulty.

Normal difficulty, steam says that I've been playing for about 10½h, and I've beaten the game, so it is rather short. But I really liked it
I think 10-12 on normal is right. To do it in 6 you'd have to skip side stuff and fly through text, I would guess.

It's a short campaign though. It's kind of an example more than anything.
took me about 11 hours or so to beat it, the last mission is annoying

echoing comments on the dialog found it possible to play a character and relate with the other NPC's

it does have its flaws < the inventory system for instance, you can carry 3 assault rifles but only 6 or 8 misc objects like grenades

didn't find the check point system a problem and pick up and put down the game quite a few times can see how folks would easily find it annoying though

if you don't mind taking you time in a game, reading much text you might enjoy it
I made a little mission in just an hour or so. Nothing at all big or interesting, just load into a lab and kill some goons, get a victory message, etc. Still neat I could do something that quickly.
