Hello!
I've recently been using this laptop mainly while working on certain projects and I thought why not try some GoG games here.
Some games like Rayman 2, league of legends and baldur's gate series works just fine with a smooth fps but for example, Planescape torment hits me with 10-20 fps even without mods. Other than games, this laptop is pretty fast.

Does anyone have similiar experiences with this laptop or am I the only of my kind?
Any advice regarding the PS:T framerate is greeted with open arms too! I'd love to play it while I'm away from home >__<

It uses similar engine as Baldur's Gate games, so it should work identically.

But, googling for planescape torment low framerate gave several hits, including this:

Also another thing, since you are playing on a laptop. I've noticed that at least other Infinity Engine RPGs (like Baldur's Gate 1-2, Icewind Dale etc.) have this not-so-nice feature that your CPU, or at least one core of it, is running constantly at 100% during the whole game, even in menus etc. This probably happens also with Planescape Torment. On some newer CPUs this is reported as 50% on one core, not 100%.

So it may be also possible that the CPU might get overheated, and the laptop starts throttling the CPU down in order to cool it down. But these slow downs would be more occasional, ie. it starts out fine, but then suddenly gets jerky for some time when CPU throttling takes place.

In such case, you might want to try to set your laptop power settings so that CPU speed is not ever allowed to go to max, but some lower level, while you play the game. Some "maximum battery" power option or such where CPU speed is locked to lower speeds. This way your CPU stays cool the whole time and no sudden CPU throttling will occur. This is how I played through Baldur's Gate 1-2 and Icewind Dale on my older laptop, I just didn't like the idea of the CPU running at 100% for no good reason.

Too bad I don't have the option to turn down hardware acceleration as suggested in the ps:t framerate thread and my CPU's are not overheating either.

If it is a similar issue as in that 2010 discussion, then it appears to be some kind of ATI/AMD issue, not really a laptop issue. Not sure why it'd affect Planescape Torment only though, and not the other Infinity Engine games.

Well, the ddraw patch fixed the issue, the game now runs smoothly as silk but now I have the infamous cursor trail bug :P ...

Update:
Other games like Silent Storm lag like shit even with the lowest settings.
Guess this laptop just isn't made for gaming :I
