gameon: We need that demo!
Indeed you do! I've been spending a lot of my free time with DA WUHMIN, so I haven't been giving Swamplands as much attention as I should. I'll have some time tonight to put together the demo, however. Might even get it uploaded by tonight.

gameon: Do they all need to be played to understand the story, or are they stand alone?

Also what order are they. Are any of them prequels?

I've been interested in the stalker series, especially because of the "real world" graphical setting. But it would be annoying if it was tough to complete because of bugs.

Navagon: You can play them in any order, really. Clear Sky is something of a prequel to SoC, but not by much. I wouldn't say you needed to play that one first. If anything it might work better the other way around. Personally I found weapon mods that increase the stopping power to be vital for these two.

Call of Pripyat is easily the best of them. Larger areas. More survival orientated, what with the blowouts. It's not at all connected to the other game, other than the same factions and some of the same characters. I'd say at the very least you owe it to yourself to play this one. It's one of the absolute best FPS out there of any type, or era. I'd say that the Complete mods for all three games should be considered vital.
The only problem about Call of Pripyat was that it was too easy. Upgraded weapons were powerful enough that enemies eventually ceased to be threats. Health packs were too common, given that you encountered less enemies than in the previous two games. Sleeping meant that you never needed to deal with the intensely frightening Zone night. You were never forced too far from safe zones, even in Pripyat, so you never needed to scavenge like you did in Shadow of Chernobyl. And most unfortunate of all, bandits never attacked you. Which is odd, considering that they would attack anyone else.

Still my favorite STALKER game, however. And still one of the deepest and most immersive FPSs of this gen.
Really sad to see the demise of this sequel.

I also enjoyed the Cossacks RTS series from GSC Game World, so I was disappointed to see them close down. They made some really nice games, regardless of bugs.

I'm not a fan of MMOFPS games, but I wish the devs well with their new project.

Survarium could be a pretty cool game.

they can't get the rights, that won't just suddenly change

If this translation is correct it, it seems Bethesda has obtanied the rights to Stalker.
I don't know what to think.

Well, they can do open area sandbox games and have shown a lot of love for modders. Maybe it's for the better.

Bethesda ? Meh .
My first though can be summed up like this:

Noooooooooooooooooo....

What a let down.

I hope Metro: Last light makes it through development, I mean Prey 2, Stalker 2...there's going to be nothing left at this rate.
