The Master Thief is back--you never saw that coming!

No, really. You literally did not see that coming.

Thief: Deadly Shadows, the ultimate tension-fueled stealth experience, is available on GOG.com for $9.99 with the soundtrack, design sketches, avatars, wallpapers, and the manual all included!

GOG.com is incredibly happy to complete the most acclaimed and loved PC stealth series ever developed--the Thief series. [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/thief_gold]Thief Gold and Thief II: The Metal Age have been both voted 5-star-perfect games by our community (thanks for the votes!) and Thief: Deadly Shadows is a strong contender for yet another entry on your “best of the best” lists. The third installment, a worthy and mighty successor, does not change what’s exceptional about Garrett’s adventure--stealth-based gameplay that uses silence and shadows as your main weapons--but it does add a few twists, like seeing Garrett’s limbs from first-person perspective, non-linear exploration of the City and secondary missions, Wall Climbing Gloves, a variety of gameplay (Break & Enter, Steal, Combat, Ambush and Assassinate), and, what’s best, an improved AI that will now seek and hear you more easily, track evidence, and even chase and fight you to the end.

Thief: Deadly Shadows has been especially praised for its exceptionally refined standard of lighting, graphics, level design, and--of course--immersive gameplay. Sound effects, music, and voice acting are top-notch, and the game looks and feels better than ever with a dynamic lighting and shadow system, and the possibility to switch between first person and third person mode. The story, the dark and tense atmosphere, the visual appearance, the thrill--everything you wished for in a 3D sneaker is here. There’s only one thing no one should see--it’s Garrett, hidden in deadly shadows.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is a gaming ambush that will steal your free time and assassinate your desire for playing other games. You don’t have to break & enter to grab this gem from GOG.com for only $9.99.
A great new release, all 3 Thief games are great and deserve to be here

I also really love that there's 4 new releases this week, now that's what I call good work from the GOG team, I wish every week was like this
Fantastic release, or so I assume from all of the banter!

I haven't played any of Thief games. Which one would be the right one to start with?

my favourite was T2.

bazilisek: I thought the open city was a wonderful idea. Admittedly, it felt a little too cramped, but that's one feature I'd love to see in the earlier games. There's a reason the rooftop mission of The Metal Age is considered the best part of the game.
I agree. The execution wasn't that good, but the idea itself was great. My main problem with DS was probably the moronic AI. A random thug kills a civilian, another civilian finds the body, and suddenly everyone is hunting me for murder.

Gameplay is best in the second game, but I'd really recommend starting with the first one because of the story. But they all have their own strengths and weaknesses; T2 is the closest the series ever got to perfection, but they are all excellent at what they do.

Seconding that.
Thanks guys!
I like Deadly Shadows. It missed a lot of what made The Metal Age so good, but brought a lot of its own greatness in place of that. The alignment system with Pagans and Hammerites wasn't great... but they weren't the focus of the game - the Keepers were - and the Keepers were handled brilliantly. This is also by far the best-looking game in the series, and is the one with the famous Cradle level. I only wish it had more rope/vine arrows...

Yeah, i encountered that one too. It got worse when these other enemys (won't spoil it) started roaming the streets and started fights with the city guard and the hammers. I literally couldn't get past a guardhouse because respawning guards always found their dead predecessors and immediately started hunting for me. Another gripe was when i was beeing hunted and left for a different part of town the guard would still be there when i returned. I would get attacked right after the loading screen disappeared. So the AI wasn't really designed to deal with an open city setting.
I just wanted to say I love the new release schedule. I have nothing against indie games or AAA titles on GOG when they don't forget about releasing classic titles.

Good work GOG, good work.
Haha, awesome. Sadly my stealth appetite is currently filled up thanks to SC:Chaos Theory but I'll be sure to wishlist this and buy when I need my fill again.

Awesome work guys.
Shalebridge Cradle is the reason to buy this game. The rest of the game is just decent.

Start with 1. Fan favorites are just that... opinionated favorites. While all 3 games CAN stand alone by themselves, I'd highly recommend you approach the series as a series and play them in order. There ARE some plot points that carry over as well.
Wishlisted..for now.
Own the Thief collection, but may pick this up at some point. Nice release.
