A hunter lurks beneath the waves!

Silent Service 1+2, a bundle of two legendary MicroProse classic submarine simulation war games, dating back to 1985 & 1990, now available on GOG.com for only $5.99!

From the second you take command, you'll live by the motto FIND 'EM, CHASE 'EM, SINK 'EM, as you follow instruments, charts and your instincts in search of hostile convoys. Is a submerged daylight periscope attack best or do you charge in on the surface at night using only radar bearings to guide you? Do you fire a spread of your precious torpedoes or can you close the range and pick off the enemy with a single torpedo shot? These decisions and many more are yours to make as you take your place among the elite ranks of the Silent Service!

Silent Service 1+2 includes MicroProse's both legendary submarine warfare titles, that will bring you all the challenging combat versus single ships and heavily escorted convoys you could handle. All the critical battle stations are represented: engine room, conning tower and ship’s bridge. The games present you with an infinite variety of situations using complete maps and charts for the entire Southwest Pacific. With a wide selection of historical scenarios from individual attacks to patrol missions, and clear distraction-free graphics that allows you to stay on top of the situation, this classic pack provides you with everything that you need to feel the excitement of actual submarine combat.

Battle stations! Prepare to fully submerge in Silent Service 1+2, for only $5.99, on GOG.com!
Hell yes. I remember playing these way back in the day all the time.
Waiting for F15 Strike Eagle now.

Edit: never played Silent Service, compared with the old Microprose flight simulators (especially F15 Strike Eagle II) is more or less difficulty?
Hell yeah, i remember them.
Played SS2 on my Amiga. Very basic sim, but it was fun destroying a convoy and hoping for the aircraft carrier.

I think you could tweak the difficulty with different options. I played SS1 on my Amstrad CPC 6128, and one possibility was doing the torpedo angle calculations yourself.

Now praying for the Gunship series. Want to fly an Apache again.
You had me at submarine simulation! I'll be sure to pick this one up asap. :)

LOL
but think about, how would it look on an modern Amiga.
If Commodore would be still running (not only by name) we all would be playing on one of
their Amigas and not a PC....no shit storms about Microsoft...no no all directed to the next blue screen :p

Thank you for stocking Silent Service 1 in your catalog. ^_^

The time has come to patrol the deep once again.

ShadowWulfe: GOG is just on a roll aren't they?
GOG must be butter because they are on a roll. :)

Crosmando: You know, I'm not sure how well that game would sell with those 80's CGA graphics as a standalone purchase...
avatar
Licurg: It would, trust me. The graphics really aren't that bad, and the gameplay more than makes up for it .
Yes, Sword of the Samurai would definitely get a purchase from me, and i've never even played it before.

In the meantime, I have to tell my uncle that Silent Service is finally on gog, he'll be over the moon. :)
I was 2 years old in 1985, but I'd still purchase this and most likely enjoy it, once I learned how to play. I'll have to purchase it at some point soon :)

Thank you!

This was among the first games I bought for my then brand spanking new Atari ST in 1987.
Thank you!
I can't buy it today but will do ASAP.
NOTE TO TOMMO:

You own the rights to "Elite", but please don't just put the original 1984 game on GOG, it's way too old to get sold for 6 bucks standalone. Please include "Elite Plus", the 1991 VGA remake as well as the original.

Over and out.

Licurg: More Microprose ! Now how about Sword of the Samurai next ?!?!?
I would buy Sword of the Samurai 8 days before it was released. I've lost my disc copies years ago, though I would still enjoy to play the game again.
