Rrrrrrrnnnn! EEEEEEERRrrrrnNNNNNN!

Vrrrrooom! If you like fast cars, tight turns, and pulse-pounding races, then today's release is sure to please: Race Driver: GRID--known in the US simply as GRiD--screeches over the finish line for just $7.49 this week during its 50% off intro sale.

In GRID, you're a driver with dreams of going big: you start out driving in others' cars for money, but soon enough you'll start your own team, picking the races you want to compete in, buying the cars and equipment that you need to get the advantage over the other drivers, and traveling the world to compete. With 43 cars and 3 different regions to compete in--the US, Europe, and Japan--there's plenty to captivate adrenaline junkies. But that's not all: GRID also features an innovative "flashback" system, whereby you can rewind time a few crucial seconds to fix any sloppy driving or mistakes, avoid crashes, and generally gain the needed edge to win. With open wheel racing, demolition derbies, GT racing, there's plenty of variety in gameplay.

Real road courses such as Le Mans are in the game, as well as street circuits such as such as the Detroit and Washington D.C.. There are also a number of fictional tracks, such as street courses in San Francisco, and Milan, and Mount Haruna.

Is that enough to get your pulse pounding? Check out Race Driver: GRID this week for just $7.49--that's half off the full $14.99 price!

Tolya: Actually, the controls are perfectly rebindable - you just need to switch to the "custom" tab in the key binds screen and you can change everything fine.

I myself drive on A/Z </> and S/X for gears, did that since Network Q Rac Rally... anybody remembers this?

DodoGeo: Glad to hear other people still play racers with only keyboard.
@DodoGeo: Only arcade ones, like CMRR/DiRT series or ToCA. Games like RBR, GTL, or GTR2 have to be played with use of a proper steering wheel.

@Tolya: I use these, since I started to play racing games: A-accelerate, Z-brake, arrows for steering and up- and downshift, X or Spacebar for handbrake, Left Shift for lookback.

BTW - Cockpit view is an absolute must (with notable exception for CMRR series). So no GRID2 for me. -_-
This game seems like awesome fun. It's also actually not that old, which probably explains the nice looking images. Gonna give it a spin.
Interesting. I must say though that like others I'm concerned that this may be pulled from the store again before long. Hell, the first DiRT game Codemasters made isn't (digitally) available anymore anywhere, and that one was released just a year prior to GRID.

grynn: MP is still working for GRID?

JudasIscariot: I played it at 1920 x 1200 just fine. I think it goes by your native resolution or something because I didn't have to change the resolution or anything :D.
strange, as my native resolution is 1920 x 1080... can't find an option to change it... maybe somewhere outside the game?

There is another option concerning the aspect ratio, make sure that is set to 19:10 or normal.

Nice debut sale! It used to be that Codemasters games hardly ever went on sale (they were even excluded from the Christmas sale one year). Now they're released on sale! Hooray for progress!!

I'll be picking this one up immediately.

Maybe the widescreen format is limiting you? Is there an option for 16:9 or 16:10 which gives you acess to higher resolutions?

yes, I've tried that, it doesn't make other resolutions available :(

Here's something to try although I can't guarantee it will work:

If you are using an HDMI connection to your monitor try using the DVI one instead.

sadly, I am using DVI at the moment... hmm, maybe I should ask the support or something. didn't anybody else experience this? that when you start the game for the first time, it asks you if you want to use 1280x768 (or something like that)?
EDIT: and then you can only set very low resolutions?

Can you tell me what kind options you get in AMD's control panel for your video card? I don't have that card hence the reason I ask :D. Perhaps you can force the executable file to be run at native resolution?
