If you're going to go the Nvidia route, the 560 (non-Ti version) was just released and is a direct replacement for the 460. Same power requirements, generally same price, slightly faster. The 560 Ti would be even better, but it has higher power requirements. I think a 550w PSU would be cutting it close.

Annoying about the non-Ti 560, it came out exactly a month after I got my 460. Oh well.

KneeTheCap: Hmm, that card seems interesting. Does anyone have experience whether it runs hot, and if it's loud? And does my motherboard get along with that card (I'm simple when it comes to these things...)

Apparently I already have the 6pin converter, found it in my stash (remember wondering what on earth it was) :D

Hopefully my PSU has enough stamina to run this :)

wodmarach: it's generally considered not worth paying for over the 460
The 560ti and 460 aren't really comparable. The 560ti outperforms the 460 by a large margin: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-gf114,2845-6.html

The 560ti is also quieter but has a slightly higher power consumption.

@KneeTheCap: Your motherboard should be fine.
So, if I'm gonna get this, it should suffice for a while? (and it would be better than my current card?)

Check for that card/model on newegg/etc for best price and reviews to see which maker makes that model for a good price and with good specs.

I'd probably go for the 560ti, if you can afford it: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX560_Ti_DCII2DI1GD5/

In either case it's definitely a big step up from your current card. I imagine you could get a few years out of it, but exactly how long it'll last is hard to say since no one knows exactly what the future will bring. The rate that graphics cards become obsolete is slower now than it was, say, 5 years ago, which will likely continue at least until the next console cycle. It also depends on how picky you are about graphics settings to some extent.
Good article on the 560. If you want to go AMD, they have some comparable models in there I think. Don't know much about AMD cards so I can't really make any recommendations.

Hmm, this is getting harder than I thought :D
