As mentioned earlier: It's just a stop-gap for the summer sale. There are so many giveaways and cheap games everywhere... Forum's very active (first "Yesterday" appears on page 5 of General Discussions!) and I didn't want to make a giveaway that's constantly pushed back to page 3,4 or 5. And I thought it's a good opportunity to drop that little comic as a teaser for... something that's coming soon (Tuesday).
