vrmlbasic: Another indie game that looks like it belongs on the SNES. Sigh. I didn't like the SNES then, and I don't like it now.
Indie developers today seem hell-bent on sending gaming back 20 years. I'm not nostalgic for the olden days, give me interesting and fun games with decent graphics, games that aren't part of the "retro" craze, games that aren't 2d side scrollers with "16 bit" graphics.
brigade20: Are you serious?
You didn't like SNES? It's the greatest console of all time.
That means you didn't like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter II, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Etc.
You're crazy.
Yes, I'm serious. I grew up with PC gaming, trying to play anything on those consoles was tedium.
When I did play on those consoles, I found the Genesis to utterly pwn the SNES.
After playing games like Half Life and Deus Ex during childhood, the cliched plot and utter lack of an intriguing story in Zelda just didn't work for me. PC games set the bar higher than the consoles would bother to aim.
Looking at all these indie games, it's as though all these programmers missed their calling to be SNES developers and are doing as much as they can to fulfill that calling, short of inventing a time machine and going back to the early 1990s. :(
