With Shadow Warrior Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog bring back one of the legendary heroes of the late 1990's and make sure he's in fighting shape to take on the challenges of modern-day gaming without even breaking a sweat. Yes, Lo Wang is back in action with his faithful katana, sharp enough to slice a hair in half and hard enough to cut through rock. The game re-tells the original story of the 3D Realms fan-favorite classic, but takes some unexpected turns and explores new ideas. This is not the old and wrinkly Lo Wang we met years ago! This is the new, young, and fresh Lo Wang perfect for the new world of first-person shooters. Expect classic feeling, modern looks, and lots, and lots of badassery and gore!

Voight-Kampff: This guy doesn't look very asian to me.
Didn't you get the memo? New Wang is Asian-American. Murican FPS players are apparently unable to sympathize with a protagonist unless he's also a murican.

As a full blooded 'Merican, I can safely say you should fuck off. You know what the issue with this reboot is? Too many gamers have a stump up their ass, and they don't realize reboots are often a good thing.

How does that disprove anything I said? Did you know that upcoming Mad Max game was going to have an American Mad Max? I'll stop complaining when AAA murican devs stop cultural appropriation and cannibalism to cover up their creative bankruptcy.

ROFL, I bet your going to bring up the "entitled gamers" line next too. No, it's not a problem, it's a good thing, gamers are becoming more self-aware, more willing to speak out against crappy devs and their scumbag-ism.
, and they don't realize reboots are often a good thing.
And how many good reboots can you name? I'm waiting, because I'm not aware of one which wasn't just another cashgrab to rape the original game in an attempt to get a "bigger audience" on consoles by dumbing down the game.

The problem with reboots is that they shouldn't exist. They do exist because of creatively braindead "developers" who are unable to come up with legitimately new material, at the least a sequel but more desirably a completely new IP.

If you cannot be loyal to the source-material, you should leave it alone. Reboots are like digging up everyone's deceased grandmother at the cemetery and selling the corpse on the black-market for a few bucks.
Off-topic, but are you going to get Memoria from Daedalic here?
Great game no doubt. Don't take it offense but Devolver isn't Valve's subsidiary? They offers exclusive remakes and free game another gaming platform. What they contributed to GOG so far?

scampywiak: I hate to say it GOG, but Steam has the far better pre-order deal here. You pay $43, you get the soundtrack, digital art book, three in-game items, and 75% off another Devolver Digital game or Hard Reset. On GoG, I get a gift code...to give Shadow Warrior classic away because I already own it?? I appreciate the soundtrack and GOG Katana, but this is paltry stuff in comparison.
I think this is perspective, So Steam is better because: 1) They charge $10 more for the game? 2) Get the same soundtrack? 3) Give a coupon that only is good if you spend more money? 4) And the BIG BONUS, you get DRM with Steam.

I agree the digital art book would be nice, but frankly most people buy games for the game. I probably would flip through that book in about 30 seconds and never look at it again.

To each his own.

Well, I shouldn't bitch. Been spoiled by GOG I guess.
Now that Flying Wild Hog is on GOG, vote for their other first-person shooter Hard Reset!

I'm well aware of American creative bankruptcy. So I guess it's a good thing the devs are Polish, and they've been making old school shooters for years. FWH has the pedigree to do this right, they aren't going to pander to anyone. Who needs the juvenile, cliche humor of the first one anyway? I'm glad for the changes.

Good reboots: DX:HR, Street Fighter 4, Mortal Kombat.

Well, I wasn't specifically referring to this game, I actually have pre-ordered because I think it looks fun enough. But DX:HR is a prequel, no? It doesn't reboot anything from the original does it?
To expensive. If it would be 15 $ as it was for Rise of the Triad, well, maybe I would preorder. However I will wait for review and will not prerder blind.

Technically a prequel I guess, but there was no lack of fan skepticism at even touching an all time great IP, and yet Eidos delivered.

Hard Reset was short as well, but later on FWH released new levels for free, added like 2-3 hrs of content. It also had really good replayability, so if this is your kind of game you'll get your monies worth. Maybe there will be a demo.

Now is the time to make the hard choice. Do I preorder now and risk it, but still get the classic version? Or do I wait for the reviews, but have the price slip further from my ideal price range and still have to get Classic separately? Decisions, decisions.

It looks like it would be pretty cool to say the least. I would certainly enjoy using the katana. :)
Far too much, especially for a linear FP without humour.
