taczillabr: And that is a special sale on Amazon. When I'm saying $5.99 it is $5.99 as regular, make a 50% off and that's $3.

They're desperate to sell it, because sooner or later Steam and/or GOG will have a sale on TW1.
I'm just saying the $5.99 price point is obviously not unreasonable, let alone crazy.

taczillabr: it's just strange to have the second game onboard, but do not have the first.
Broken Sword! And insult to injury, DotEmu has it.

Darling_Jimmy: Broken Sword! And insult to injury, DotEmu has it.
Also The Settlers 2 here, without the first. Duke Nukem 3D, without the first and second. etc. :p

The thing is that isn't another company that owns the game, is CDP itself that owns TW1... so, as I said, just release it already.

Didn't they partner with Atari or something? Maybe there are still valid distribution contracts dictating conditions of sale. Or maybe they are just laughing manically, watching as we squirm.

They have different partnerships in Europe and America and others, but only GOG/CDP could answer you this. But yeah, probably this is the reason if they do not release it here.

I'm not squirming. I'm still $9.99 richer (or $5.99).

taczillabr: Just release it already, GOG... Release "The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut", patched to the last version, for $9.99.

Or if you're crazy, for $5.99
Yep I'd buy the Witcher for $9.99, I've been waiting for GOG to add it. I'm not usually one to buy games when they first come out as I like to upgrade my system later with cheaper parts and cheaper games. Call me frugal all the way or just a cheap bastard.

So while the Witcher 2 is compelling, my system and my finances are all screaming NO! at this point in time.

You are describing me, I'm the same. And I don't see any problem with it.

Just like now, it doesn't make any sense to buy nvidia or ati GPUs if there are new series coming in a just a few months; and thus making the older series way, way cheaper.

Same here. I want it, but... I'll think about it.

Still they have a good offer, you can pre-order and pay it on release day only, plus win a free GOG game. That's nice.
Tempting, but I'll wait for reviews first.

Besides I've never played the first game.
For anyone wondering about second Witcher - first Witcher got 9.3 user metascore and that says someting.

For me is this offer "instabuy" , or should I say "instapreorder " ;-)

Kingoftherings: You get the tracks if you preorder, but that doesn't mean you have to buy it. I already have the tracks, so if Game Rager wants to buy the CE he can do that without having to buy from GOG as well.
Now that's pretty crafty. But I suppose if you're actually going to go and buy a more expensive version then that's fair enough.
mmhmm! this offer seems very tempting, but i don't know what's the gameplay like, if is like oblivion or other open ended rpg i might get it just to show my support for this company. :)

It is MUCH better than Oblivion, but it is not open sandbox like Oblivion - the first Witcher. The second one will be probably more open, almost no loading screens, but it will be more story focused than Oblivion, which is a good thing.

You should buy it, first one was amazing and second one will most likely be as well.
This is the best deal on The Witcher 2 anywhere, not just in terms of price (though it is) but also in terms of NO DRM and NO censorship. Thanks, GOG.com!

So, are you guys gonna upgrade your servers before May 17, 2011? Something tells me you'll have more traffic on that day than you've ever had before....
I'm sur others mentioned this too, but this is SO much better of a publicity stunt then the "Great Shutdown Hoax of '10" (no, don't strart any discussion of this, I just mentioned it). It's simply genius:
You buy the game at a slightly higher price then the simple version you can pre-order at the local retailer. But, here comes the twist:
Most of the good things about the deal are all subtle GOG ads...
A game of your choice...older, but great games. "Ha, who would have thought I can play Game X again after I misplaced my disk two years ago?" Or something like that.
Typical GOG extras (for free).
No DRM. Anyone who ever had to play through a few hours of Assassin's Creed because of the damnable DRM would appreciate this. And, what a surprise, there is no DRM on any GOG Games at all.
For any European who ever thought the Steam way of converting prices unfair: "Don't worry, we will give you back the difference...just spend it here." If there is anyone who says he (or she) likes video games and doesn't find 10-20 games here they would want, then they probably have been regrettably misinformed about the meaning of the term "video games".

But seriously, who cares if this is an ad or not? It's a damn good offer, and it would seem a good amount of people agree on this. All the more better for GOG. The only problem I can forsee is the possible server load on the day of the release if this turns out to be popular. This is a new AAA title, so a new traffic record is likely.

It's more story driven than Ovblivion, though there is a lot of wonderful side quests, and the plot is much more mature. But the best thing about The Witcher is the two isometric modes you can choose. You can always go for OST, but for those of us who love good old games with isometric views, it's a treat.

taczillabr: Not his lucky day, then. :p

You're fooling yourself if you think gog would ever sell it for less than 9.99, and most likely as it's their game it wouldn't be in many promos and hardly ever discounted.

The game I got is drm-free, I have a copy of the install files on disk and can get another copy at any time from amazon.....so kudos to me.
