michaelleung: Aieeeee.... for the last freaking time it's a one-time thing. It's called cross-promotion. Expensive cross-promotion yes, possibly annoying to have a new game on a service that usually sells old games, yes, but this won't happen all the time.
It's like the Jetsons on the Flintstones.
Bloody hell...people are actually complaining about this?

Now I've seen it all.
You really have to upgrade your hardware if u want the best graphic performances in the game instead you can use "old" hardware to play... I always buy the best graphic card in a serie with 3 or 4 years "old"... with this philosophy I can play to recent game like Call of Juarez with a 50 or 70€ graphic card ;)
Don't upgrade your processor, upgrade only your graphic card and only when drivers are not enough to make u play fluidly to the game... you will spare a lot of money ;)

I'm playing every kind of games with hardware from 2005/2006 ;)

This is too awesome for words so I will proceed to do an interpretive dance.
It is awesome, I'll admit.

But aren't you a little besides your demographic? I for one can't possibly take part because my hardware is low grade and I rarely upgrade it. This is one reason why I love Good OLD Games so much, and I imagine a fair amount of people share my reasons.
This is fantastic news! Of course I pre-ordered as soon as I read this. I'll try to get my friends to do the same. We, the gaming community, need to support this!
This is awesome a new game with no DRM. How long will this offer be available? I should have a higher end rig built by late january.
This is just the greatest thing I've seen in a while. I especially like that people outside USA get free store credit because the unfavourable currency whatyoumightcallit. This is how all stores should handle (pre)orders. Hurray GOG.
I've planned to buy a new computer early next year to be able to play Diablo III and also (finally!!!) finish Mirror's Edge which I have almost a year now and can't play it on my current coffee grinder...

so the pre-ordered Witcher 2 is just another reason to upgrade a bit... and if not anything else, Diablo III and Witcher 2 are the reasons to do it!

Damuna: THANK YOU.

You've just reminded me of a game I really wanted to play, and I now can due to my new computer. Now all I need to do is find it and buy it. Suggestions?
unfortunately I don't know any on-line service which sells it, I bought it from a stone retailer... but you'll definitely find it on amazon or ebay!

EDIT: 9 bucks for a used copy on Amazon, not bad :)

Both D2D and Steam sell it, but it's more expensive than retail (or amazon).
I just pre-ordered the game from GOG, but I was wondering about the inevitable patches that will crop up to deal with previously undetected bugs. One advantage (perhaps the only one) that Steam has over GOG is that just about all the titles are kept up to date automatically. If and when patches for Witcher 2 must be issued, can I assume that GOG will host the files here or otherwise provide us with reliable and trustworthy links from which to download those corrective updates? It'll be the first time that a game is released on GOG in what is essentially an unfinished or incomplete state.
Will the game be availabe for sale at GOG *after* the pre-order?

I think it would be nice to provide both stand-alone patches to download AND the updated installation package for those who don't mind downloading it again...

Thanks GOG! Pre-ordered as soon as i picked my jaw off the ground. I loved the first game so this generous offer is unmissable for me. Can't believe somebody complained about the combat in The Witcher when it was widely acclaimed for its innovative combat system - and I personally enjoyed that aspect immensely.
