A DRM-free, AAA, new title on GOG.com? Yes! We decided to promote this highly-anticipated RPG by our sister company CD Projekt RED as a one time special.

We just couldn't resist the opportunity to offer you the best pre-order offer for The Witcher 2 you'll find in the world. First of all, you don't have to pay upfront for the pre-order. Pre-order The Wicher 2 on GOG.com now and pay for it at the release. If you make the pre-order on GOG.com you'll get loads of free bonuses: instant access to some exclusive bonus content from The Witcher 2, a 10% discount, a free copy of one of five classic RPG's from GOG.com and much more. Check out the full pre-order offer and make your pre-order for The Witcher 2 [url=http://gog.com/en/page/tw2_preorder/]here.
WAT. Instant preorder. Incredibly awesome. Russian localizations are usually crap, so to get a playable CE I'll have to order it from Europe and say hi to 40 euro for S&H (been there, done that with Heroes V). Thus, if I actually end up ordering a Collector's for the feelies, not preordering a DRM-free version for less than the cost of S&H will be stupid, and if I decide not to, there ain't going to be a better place to buy the actual game than GOG.

Also: Dear GOG,
It's good that you're committed to bringing us more good old games. But if there's another opportunity to get a new release on the site on the usual conditions (DRM-free, fair price, unlimited downloads), please use it. After all, it will become a good old game in due time ))

Also x2: I hope that despite this week is already unusually awesome, there'll be a weekend sale tomorrow. It's a long wait until March.
Again I say, I'm not missing out on all the goodies. And so I ordered the Collector's Edition from Amazon not ten minutes ago. They have a habit of lowering their pre-order prices a dollar or three based on pre-release "buzz", so I may not even have to pay the whole $130. I just wish CD Projekt would have substituted one of the goodies for the medallion, I'd have really liked a second chance at that.

Speaking of opportunities at goodies, I read the description of the stuff I get from the package from Amazon, and see that I get all the stuff I would have gotten if I ordered it from GameStop, like the Vernon Roche Commando Jacket. What I DON'T see in the list is the "Mysterious Merchant" DLC item that was listed on GameStop's standard edition page. Will Amazon customers (whether they purchased the standard or Collector's version) have a chance at meeting this fellow?
Ah! I like the direction GOG is heading. I can sense the beginning of a great digital distribution service (as well as a place for old games!). This is so exciting I am unable to speak (And I'm crossing my fingers right now!)!

mushy101: Even being a quad core owner, a high clocked core2duo is STILL enough for today's games, since most of them are just console ports running at a higher res and AA. Very few games actually take advantage of four cores effectively and max out at three cores, sadly.

It is comforting to know that my current rig will last long, but I miss the days of devs pushing the envelope of what's possible grapahically. The only game that has done that recently is Metro 2033, which was actually well optimized. Better then that bloated Crysis.

Anyway, I wonder if the requirements listed are MINIMUM or recommended. The screen shots so far of the game suggest you'll need a better card then a 8800 to run the game at it's most beautiful.

Finally, a BIG thanks to GOG and CDP, I just don't care that you are selling the game under the banner of gog.com, I pre ordered it regardless ;). I very much hope the game becomes an HUGE success, so it can throw a spanner into the DRM adoption rates. I do love steam and valve, but no DRM is in the interest of ALL gamers.

GameRager: Quad cores mean we can use the extra power whenever something better is pushed in gaming and other applications. :)

It makes me lol though at people buying HEX CORES which cannot even be fully utilised yet, and for 700 bucks or so besides. Mine is the highest quad core amd makes....hopefully that will last awhile. But even so, in Metro 2033 I get maybe 25-30 fps with max graphical settings and 1440x900 res.
Oh tell me about it, a quad core is money well spent even in everyday use. Everything runs, boots up and starts so fast that I've 'retired' my dual core laptop. Multi tasking is a breeze as well, studying, working and gaming is effortless. If you only use a computer for facebook and the like, I can understand the need for two or maybe even one core, but once you making the computer work a little, quad cores make it damn easy.

Hex cores, unless you need them for work or are a video/sound editor/producer, are just useless. Once the next gen of consoles come out, I can see the benefit of them but I seriously doubt any game will use all six in the next 2-3 years.

Oh, and a AMD owner as well?? *Brofist* ;)

If not you can bet someone will leak the dlc of it online. hehe >:-)

Yeah I love the fact I can keep it around for awhile and it'll still be useful down the line whereas i'll probably need to replace my video card more oft than it which goes without saying really.

And yeah AMD.....booyah! Even the Thuban hex cores from amd are cheaper by several hudred dollars than similar speed intel hex cores........talk about spending money on power you won't need for a good long while.
Massive disappointment: They could have at least released The Witcher 1. Maybe others will spent 45 euro for a game. I won't - no matter what. That's why I liked GOG so much: Great Games for little money. I'd hoped to get The Witcher for 10 dollar or less. Too bad.
Pre-ordered!

Now to just sleep until May.

KEgstedt: Thanks for the insult, but did I ever say that this was in any way a big deal? The strongest word used in my original post is "dislike", and that's about as much as I care about it. There is a legitimate issue here to which no one has offered a remotely convincing counter-argument ("what's done is done" is neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned), but at the end of the day it only marginally detracts from the Good Thing represented by a major PC title being released completely DRM-free.

I don't have a computer that will run Witcher 2 but I will still buy it at least once - through GOG.COM no less! - to support CD Projekt's valiant effort...'cause that's how "perfectionist douches" like me roll...

GameRager: Lol, sorry if I insulted you then. I thought you were ranting about gog becoming not gog by allowing a new title on here like you were obsesses with it or something. So I got a little hot under the collar. Truce?
Sure, no problem. In discussions on the Internet (and in writing in general) it's always really difficult to judge exactly *how* worked up someone is about something, and it's easy to blow things out of proportions unintentionally - especially when at least one of the persons involved doesn't have English as his or her native language (in this case that would be me).
Ugh, on the one side, I really want to pre-order this but 45 euros is a lot for only digital content :( If this was a RL copy, I'd snap it up right away but digital content is just not the same ... Still, very grateful that they want to give $16 value to us Europeans - but I already own all the free games. I wish I wasn't so tight on money right now ...
I love you guys. And not in a brotherly, platonic kind of way. I'm talking a full-on gooey kind of man love.

Just saying.

Pre-ordered, by the way. So glad I hadn't already ordered elsewhere. Now to finish the original.
Great offer, but this is a prime example of a kind of game that I'm going to buy a proper, boxed copy of. Possibly collector's or premium edition.
They really should get The Witcher 1 available on GOG.com before Witcher 2 comes.
Nice I will definitely be preordering from GoG.com. Though for the choice of game that comes with it, I am surprised you didn't include the original Witcher as part of the deal. That's something I'd go for even though I own it already because I'd like a completely DRM copy and I know when I reinstall from disc it will have to temporarily install tages till I install the patch.

dreadcog: I thought this site was about old games?
avatar
begolf00: Who cares if its new and being sold on this site. All games become old sooner or later, I think its a bonus that the Witcher 2 is showing up here early rather then later.
I agree. I like games DRM free! More power to GoG to releaes more new games too.

If I had a choice between buying a new game I want on Steam vs GoG I would buy from GoG every time.
