It's a decent game. If you don't mind pissing on people's corpses you may find some enjoyment and humour in it.

keeveek: But I would blame the devs. The game is so bad, nobody wants to publish it, so game devs are pretty desparate.
I'm glad they're having trouble. When I heard that some crappy team is the first one to create a game about this topic I just wanted to punch the devs in the face. A game about the Warsaw Uprising has to be made but for fuck's sake, it needs to be an innovative and mindblowing game.

It's extremely hard to tell - as an FPS game it was bad, yes. But the unique content is extremely polarizing - it makes the game a masterpiece for some, pure garbage for others. Some will probably go as far as claiming that it's an important artistic accomplishment, others will call it the an awful and uninspired attempt at satire. I'll just say that it's an interesting game for sure, at least on a meta-level.

Postal 2 is not a good game by any means. And it's humor is... the less said about it the better. No, it's a really bad game and nobody would really miss out anything, if they never play it. It is pure garbage, no doubt about that.

And still I have fun playing it. It's like a guilty pleasure, except I don't feel guilty at all about it. I'm not sure why, the game should be totally boring to me, but it's actually fun. Not that I mind. I'd rather like a bad game, than having wasted 10$ (or rather, it's Euro equivalent) on a game I don't like.

The outrage about its content is pretty stupid, though. It's really not worse than GTA or Saints Row. Considering how ridiculous and stupid it is, it's actually rather similar to SR. Although SR (at least 2 and The Third) are much better games.

Was it really that bad?
The most notable thing about Postal 2 is how deliberately offensive it is, which is why you get some people decrying it as the worst thing ever created, and some people hailing it as the ultimate guilty pleasure. In reality, it's a shoddy product designed by a small team that has some neat ideas and enough jokes and irreverent elements that at least some of them end up being funny. It's also incredibly disgusting and repulsive, and how funny you find that sort of thing will basically determine how much fun you have with the game. So I wouldn't say it deserves a "0," But it's not particularly good either.

postal 2 allows you to do what you normally would like to do , say for in duke nukem forever walking around being duke you would like to kick all npc's around you but you cant but in postal 2 you can :D
random quest : buy milk from store
solution 1 go to the store->buy it->get out
solution 2 go to the store ->kill the salesman->earn milk->burn down store->walk out

Funny thing that, I never thought Postal 2 was that offensive. It did try, but it really didn't succeed in that. In the end it's just a mediocre FPS game.

I mean, I can see why people would think it's offensive game, but the creators of it didn't really have enough skill to make it truly offensive in a manner that would actaully have merit in it.
jefequeso -- I only speed read through it, but liked what I read of the review itself -- esp the admission that the game just "didn't work for you". I've read a lot of reviews (esp from official/published places) where its quite clear (as a reader) that the reviewer just hasn't "got" the game, but is also unable or unwilling to admit that the reason they rate it low isn't the game itself, but because they didn't really "get it".
Its only as offensive as you like it or want it to be. You can complete the whole game without shooting anybody (hard, but doable).

That's a matter of opinion. If you get and appreciate the humor it's great. But if you don't, then it's a terrible game.

Personally, I rather enjoyed it. It's about as mindless of a shooter as you'll ever see. And it's oddly satisfying to gun down an entire marching band.
The only game I have down repped in greenlight.

It needs to be cleansed with fire.

Pretty much exactly that. There are elements that are amusing to it. But the big thing is that the game is mostly about flipping the bird to all the critics that blasted the first game. And being as outrageously over the top offensive as possible.

Which is probably why the movie was more like Postal 2 than the original.

I think this: http://smhttp.14409.nexcesscdn.net/806D5E/wordpress-L/images/postal-foley-header.jpg

Well, my whole schtick is to try and be as objective and fair to games as possible, even if I don't like them. I believe that understanding what the game is trying to accomplish, even if you don't like it, is crucial to writing a review rather than an opinion piece (not that there isn't a strong element of subjectivity to reviewing, because there certainly is). Sadly, it also means that I don't get to go all "Zero Punctuation" on games that I don't like :(

I'd disagree with that, actually. Even if you manage to complete the game in a non-violent manner, there's still a fair amount of offensiveness. You'll still come across ethnic steryotypes, police brutality, mild homophobia, etc. Nothing really horrible, but enough that the game could still be offputting to some people, even if you try to play it "morally."
