McDon: Is the kinect actually that popular? I only know one maybe two friends that have it?
avatar
orcishgamer: Yes, it's one of the best selling periphs of all time. People who don't even have consoles buy it, there's even an official Windows SDK for it now.
Must be an American thing then, doesn't seem that way here. :/

From Wikipedia (with numerous citations):

24 million units of the Kinect sensor had been shipped by February 2013. Having sold 8 million units in its first 60 days on the market, Kinect has claimed the Guinness World Record of being the "fastest selling consumer electronics device.

That's a ton of periphs. Probably 1 for every 3 XBox 360 consoles still in service. So while you may be technically right about "most 360 owners don't have one", you're not right by much and only right insofar as there's a fuckton of XBox 360s out there after 7+ years of sales. I.E. Kinect is way more popular than your personal dislike for the device leads you to believe.

At least Japanese games has better music than Western games :P

No one remembers any soundtrack from Ultima, yet eveyone remembers soundtracks from Final Fantasy.
Nintendo can't hack it in consoles anymore. Sad but true. Might as well just stick to handhelds, where their own games at least still sell pretty well.

And the people bitching about Phil Fish need to realize Inafune basically says the same stuff he does in a more diplomatic way.

Inafune considers Idea Factory an example of a good Japanese developer, despite them repeatedly trying to cash in on his image (like that new Inafune bs)

So his opinion is worthless as shit.
I'm going to throw in my two cents.

Nintendo has access to what in many opinions are some of the best games known to mankind and a platform to deploy them upon for all to enjoy, collect, and cherish.

This is more or less in my opinion, the equivalent of sitting upon gold.

Instead of utilizing this potential goldmine, and filling their pockets with massive profit and bringing games we never were classics to the fore, such as Terranigma.

But what has Nintendo chosen to do? They have chosen to drip feed their consumers, and sell GBA games for the Wii-U. Instead of the logical choice, the 3DS.

All this, and not even at a competitive price!

Let it be said that if Howard Lincoln were to rectally kick Reggie Fise-Aime off the stage at E3 and return to Nintendo, I'd give him a standing ovation. Reggie and Iwata have done nothing to even maintain the bridges that Lincoln and Yamauchi built over the years, lesser still the consumer goodwill and astounding marketing that was had during that era!

Keiji Inafune isn't even a game designer. He is merely a graphic artist. He done nothing at all noteworthy in this industry. Why people take his opinions seriously is beyond me.
Well, things aren't looking any better for Nintendo yet.

EA has announced they have nothing in development for the Wii U

http://kotaku.com/ea-has-no-games-in-development-for-nintendos-wii-u-507588994

Also from the NPD sales thread for April from NeoGaf it was revealed the Wii U sold in the neighborhood of 35k units for the month (+/- a couple thousand) Aquamarine posted a comparison chart showing how bad this is. The system isn't even selling half of what the Gamecube did this far into its lifespan.

He is also a producer. He is behind the Onimusha and Dead Rising games, as well as being a long time Capcom art director. He may not be a designer, but his opinion does count for things. It's not THAT uncommon for an art person to take control over the direction of a series (see: Silent HIll and Akira Yamaoka, Final Fantasy and Tetsuya Nomura, which eventually led to Kingdom Hearts being led by Nomura, the SMT series and Kazuma Kaneko, and him leading the latest installments of the Devil Summoner spinoff series). So yeah, he is more than just a graphic artist. He is also the main dude behind Soul Sacrifice. THat counts for something.
